i think an important part of any post-canon fix-it is FIRST having dean question and overthink his own memories of the confession so much that he convinces himself entirely that cas didn’t say “i love you” or meant it in an explicitly platonic way and that fact adding a little bit of spicy miscommunication when cas gets back
