#this scene is singehandedly more romantic than any scene with Misato and Kaji there I said it #also I stand my my headcanon that Misato has had a small crush on ritsuko since college but she never realized it due to Kaji showing up #and her notoriously having no idea what she actually wants #anyways like op said the soft way misato talks to ritsuko as well as using her name instead of Dr Akagi as she normally would use during #a nerv operation #the idea that ritusko would let Misato help her in such a significant space to her #the physical representation of her mother a part of her she never talks about but only talks to misato about while in the magi #in a more metaphorical sense ritusko is allowing misato to see a part of her she’s shared with no one else #and she’s allowing herself to rely on misato for help in magi even though a few scenes earlier misato calls ritsuko out for taking the #burden on herself and never asking for help ever #the subtle intimacy like op said #in the earlier scene they’re arguing about burdens and who’s in charge but in this scene we see the opposite and maybe their true selves #not them as nerv workers but as people who truly know and understand each other and are willing to rely on each other quietly away from view #of others#augh they #ok I’m done now had to go insane for a second #neon genesis evangelion #evangelion#ritsuko akagi#misato katsuragi
