hey everyone, it looks like I may be able to avoid surgery from this accident possibly but I desperately will need some help. I’m scheduled to get facets done on my lumbar (lower) spine on the 26th, 6 injections between the vertebrae that will add more lubrication and spacing between them, and 2 weeks after a cervical epidural (in my neck) if I can afford it. A kid hit me going 50+ mph totaling the car and breaking my leg, back, and teeth and totaling the car. both mom and dad died so I don’t have any family to ask for help with this. like I said for now I’m just worrying about the facets if it’s possible, and for anyone that can help I will be getting reimbursed by the kids insurance within the next few months and could pay you back, just message me of course so I know and we can work it out.
I’m going to see if I can raise enough for that before anything else, and try and just focus on that for the time being. The trigger point injections helped but my neurosurgeon and orthopedic surgeon sent me to this doctor because they feel since I’m young we should try and avoid surgery if possible and this should allow that and provide relief for 12-24 months if not more, which after all I’ve been through is enough to make me cry. My PayPal is preferred (https://paypal.com/jpd05), but I also have Cash App ($sachasaurus), Chime ($toebeens), KoFi (@toebeens) and Zelle (message for info). Donations of any size are very much appreciated and if not reblogs are of course! Thanks for your time, and again I will gladly work out paying you back if that’s possible too, the thought of actual long lasting relief from this finally is overwhelming but trying to not get too excited in case I just can’t afford it.
not really, my homestead is firmly in their territory but they're wild creatures so I don't really see them around unless they're foraging or objecting to the presence of a hawk en masse
Brachycephalus pitanga, the red pumpkin toadlet, is a small and brightly coloured species of anuran in the family Brachycephalidae. It is endemic to Atlantic rainforests in São Paulo state of southeastern Brazil
This red pumpkin toadlet was filmed at Serra do Mar State Park - Santa Virgínia Nucleus. In the images we can see two of his defense behaviors, which is rubbing his paw over his eye and opening his mouth.
What are your top 5 favorite animals? (Not species, individual animals that you know, personally)
Pippa, the House Beast
Shylock, official deputy house snake
Phillipe, the grey catbird that lives in the back yard in the summer
Alejandro, the white-breasted nuthatch that lives in the front yard in the summer
The Collective, the large murder of crows that ruthlessly controls the surrounding five blocks and won't let a bird of prey get within half a mile of our house
also in other moth news I just spent a solid 5 minutes trying to snatch a little bitty moth out of the air in the kitchen while yelling at my housemate every time they tried to smack it
I'm sure I've asked before but I don't remember so sorry if I'm being annoying
do you have moth facts?
people often describe moths as a drab nocturnal flavor of butterfly, but they've actually got it the wrong way round!
butterflies are actually a very small group of weird highly-derived brightly colored diurnal moths.
#finally trapped it between my hand and a postcard and let it go outside #I didn't actually touch it at any point and it flew away just fine so hope it's okay #bug
Haven’t posted my art on the internet in approximately a million years, but what’s the point of ridiculous fan art if not to share it with the internet? My love for Centiskorch is pure and true, what’s not to like about a giant, flaming, nightmare bug?
Can I have a cursed fact about either the Spiney Dogfish or the Long Wattled Umbrellabird? Thank you!
sure, spiny dogfish are a small bottom-dwelling shark that grows to maybe three feet long at absolute max! they're found in temperate oceans worldwide, but it's usually the atlantic population that gets talked about.
see, dogfish are shy and secretive little guys, not an animal that the layperson interacts with on the regular, right?
wrong!
if you live anywhere in western europe, I regret to inform you that you have almost CERTAINLY interacted with a spiny dogfish before:
yeah, that's right. these little bitty sharks are unfortunately delicious and often end up as the "fish" in "fish and chips".
while eating a small delicious animal might not usually be a problem, the issue here, as it often is, is one of scale: dogfish are sharks, not bony fish, and they don't reproduce very quickly! in fact, a single female dogfish will have only a few pups per year, as compared to the thousands of eggs laid by something like a cod or salmon.
(that gross pale thing is the egg yolk)
so when they get pulled out of the water this quickly in these kind of numbers, this becomes a BIG problem REAL fast:
spiny dogfish in european waters have been overfished to the point where they're now officially endangered.
so hey, if you go out to grab a fishy bite with your pals... maybe double check what you're ACTUALLY eating first!
and those of us in the Western hemisphere, keep an eye out- the fishing industry hasn't turned to dogfish in scale here yet, but it's probably just a matter of time before these guys show up in fish markets under fancy names like "rock salmon". RESIST THIS- they are counting on you!
