while it may normally be humorous for someone to say “grinch pussy got me actin mischievous,” he/theys only post on tumblr when they are in severe emotional distress
#as a he/they who posts on tumblr often #yeah this is true and fair #i've been in a state of severe emotional distress for a while
poor southern small town Facebook is like…. 3 beautiful women feuding over the most fucked up looking jobless ne’er-do-well in the county, your friend from high school is having her 3rd baby at age 20 and naming it something horrendous, “this dog showed up in my yard, who’s fucking dog is this?”, “pray for my meemaw she broke her hip drunk last week and now has COVID”, meme about bass fishing (which was pretty funny from a townie), only other gay person in town making a milktoast liberal political post, thirst traps from someone who makes no one feel thirsty, details of a couple’s divorce online for everyone to see, ballpark fight between two moms, “this is on sale at the piggy wiggly so move your ass and go get some!”, “I love driving around in the woods drinking beer”, “it smells like something is burning, is a house on fire somewhere?”
Actually really sad about John Mulaney. Can't wait for the wave of people smugly implying that they always knew he was trash and anyone who liked him was stupid and/or bigoted as if he wasn't hugely popular and memed constantly on here.
Like it's okay to say you were wrong. Or that you are let down and disappointed because you were a fan. Like it doesn't make you morally corrupt for having liked someone who ended up acting shitty...
I hate carrying around this hand in my pocket cause its rlly fragile ughhhh.... one of its nails is chipping off rn. its also rlly sticky for some reason
Thinking about the way that the Reggie’s abuse effected all of the Umbrellas. The way they grew into man-children with poor coping skills, undeveloped social skills, and completely unbalanced lifestyles. The way they all pretty much regressed into washed up child stars, escaped into coping mechanisms or repressed entirely. Vapid, depressed, petty and suspended in their shortcomings. The Hargreeves are adolescents.
All of them except Five.
According to Luther, even in their childhood Five “always thought he was better” than the others. If you ask me, it’s because of his self awareness. He was never looking for parental validation, or a normal childhood, he understood what he was to Reggie and seemingly accepted it. This is arguably how he was able to have a closer relationship with the shunned and exiled Vanya, as he understood the structure of power his father had created and was able to defy it without manipulation. This is also arguably why he and Reggie seemed to clash so much. His acceptance and cooperation wasn’t the same as Luther’s blind loyalty afterall. His self awareness made him hard to control. He was prideful, and independent. But then, one thing led to another, and he sustained the biggest humbling possibly imaginable.
One tiny fuck up, one little mistake, and he was forced to grow up. Fast. Exponentially fast. He buckled under the pressure of his new horribly fucked up life, and aged literally and figuratively well beyond his years. For better and for much much worse, he seized control over his life and survival. There were no shortcuts, only painstaking work and persistence, for decades. He is the adult. Only to finally, after an unspeakably long and painful journey, make it back to his siblings to save them from themselves.
And what does he get?
He ends up a fucking man child.
#the dynamics of this show and how it discusses abuse is #so fascinating to me #it's become more fascinating as i've realized that my parents were abusive #and the extent to which their abuse dictated my life #i always really related to five and ben #the one who was forced to grow up way too soon #and the one who seemingly self-destructed #tua #the umbrella academy
i went to go pick up my HORMONES from the chemist today and the guy was quite sweet and very well intentioned but clearly way out of his element... when i was leaving i did the standard “thanks have a nice night” and he responded with “you too enjoy your... (very very quietly obviously realising what he was saying was highly insane) gender...” and tbh i havent stopped thinking abt being a gender enjoyer since
I just saw the most Galaxy Brain gender take ever, from a cis man on reddit
[ID: a screenshot of a comment from reddit, with no username visible. The commend reads: This doesn’t make a ton of sense to me either. Setting aside the question of whether gender/sex is assigned or observed at birth, the gender I was assigned at birth was ‘boy.’ The gender I have now is ‘man’. Boys and men have different gender roles, and few adults identify as boys anymore. From this standpoint, every adult has a different gender than the one they had at birth. End ID]
Framing “girl” and “boy” as separate genders from “woman” and “man” is such an amazing take. it’s a framework that accommodates and explains so many trans experiences. Some trans people never were their AGAB. Some feel like they were their AGAB, but that that changed (usually when puberty hits, which is when you start “becoming a man/woman”. The accepted societal path is that girls grow up to into women, and boys grow up into men. But some girls grow up into men, and some boys grow up into women. This guy was a boy who grew up into a man, which generally works out pretty well for people. Some boys and girls grow up into people who aren’t men or women, even! It’s like this random cis guy skipped right over transgender 101, 102, 201, etc. and stumbled directly into Transgender Nirvana.
im all for de-gendering slang terms like dude guy girl etc but if someone says that you calling them that makes them uncomfortable and you respond by saying "oh but im using it in a gender neutral way!" you're an asshat
#nothing is gender neutral about refering to me as 'girl' or 'queen' or 'girlfriend'
Don’t want to post the guy’s face but massive respect for the guy - literally an hour after Margaret Thatcher’s statue was unveiled - who was pelting a full carton of eggs at it.
Since posting this maybe an hour ago, I've heard that it was allegedly decapitated, then got taken down for repair, and some guy has put a plaster model of her head on a pike on the plinth.
I take back my snarky comments, the good people of Grantham are doing the gods' work and I respect them so much.
this is the face of someone who learned yesterday that magic isn’t real and stayed up one night teaching himself every slight of hand trick in the book
being a horror fan that experiences panic inducing paranoia fucking sucks like ill just be like wow i cant wait to go watch scary shadow creature video number 74 and then spend the rest of the night clutching my phone with the flashlight on and playing five nights at freddys 4 in real life
like im aware that watching horror stuff at like 3am is going to make me think that slenderman is in my kitchen but also im a dumb bitch who sees scary video thinks yay i love scary video :) and immediately watches it
No but seriously this is why I think that automatic postal banking along with automatic voter registration should be a thing.
If everyone gets a free bank account on their 18th birthday that means that everyone needs to be issued legal ID and a PO box mailing address on their 18th birthday and has a place that no one is allowed to access their money on their 18th birthday. Do you know how many awful stories there are about teens who were saving up to move out who had their money used by abusive parents because it was in a joint account and they have no recourse because it was equally everyone's money in the account?
Do you know how overwhelming it can be to try to get a bank account when you don't have proof of legal residence because you are eighteen years old and your parents never let you have a drivers license or get a job and you don't pay bills or have a rental agreement? How is an eighteen year old in an abusive household supposed to become financially independent if you need a credit card to get your prepaid phone to function but you can't get a credit card until you're 21 and you can't get a debit card because you can't get a bank account because your parents won't let you use your birth certificate to get a state ID or drivers' license? How is someone supposed to get away from an abusive partner when they need two forms of ID and two forms of proof of address and they get no bills and aren't on any insurance paperwork or vehicle registration because their partner specifically prevented that?
Fuck that. National system. You go through the post office. Your PO box is through the post office, you bank with the post office, you can apply for an ID and request copies of legal documents through the post office.
Make it impossible to close an account too; that way it's normal for EVERYONE to have a bank account that is all their own and that nobody else can shut down without a death certificate so you can't pressure your partner into shutting down a possible escape route.
Is it logistically complicated? Yeah. Would it be expensive? Yeah. Is it more reliance on the state and a system of capitalism than I would prefer? Yeah. But everything fucking sucks so let's try *something.*
the horrible thought that i don't think i will ever be able to hear the phrase "among us" normally anymore is starting to worry me. i will be dead in a casket fifty years from now and the person giving the eulogy could say something like "i know that, even though they're gone, in some ways they're still among us" and literally resurrect me right then and there
can we like…get rid of the so-called leather and rubber “pride flags” ? it’s honestly ridiculous and offensive to the lgbtq community. those aren’t pride flags.
The leather pride flag is the second oldest pride flag. It has been at almost every single US pride parade and protest in history.
It’s older then you are, it’s older then I am. The leather community is responsible for pride. Leather daddies were the ones chasing away cops when they tried to arrest us for being queer in public back when Pride Parades were illegal in the US. They are still the ones chasing away cops and corporations from smaller pride events and those that aren’t sanctioned by Wells Fargo. The leather community is essential to the queer community and has a long and rich history.
Please fuck off if you’re not going to learn the actual history of pride.
And don’t fucking out your hate in our tags, asshole.
The leather pride flag represents an expression of self which is inherently queer, and a community which has been around for generations. It is not offensive to the LGBT+ community in any way. I have seen cis gay and bisexual men standing shoulder-to-shoulder with trans men, all of them united by their leather community roots. The leather community is more diverse and nuanced than you perhaps know, but that is no reason for you to shit on a community you don’t understand.
Here is a photograph from 1998, displaying the leather pride flag, the bear gay pride flag, and the rainbow flag. This is our history.

Over his shoulder is Judy Tallwing McCarthy, a Native American woman who was part of the leather community from 1959. She co-founded the first lesbian BDSM group in Portland, along with her partner, Sashie Hyatt.

Just because you don’t know the history, doesn’t mean it isn’t there. Be humble, and always assume you have more to learn. Hatred, and outright dismissal of communities you know nothing about, is the most aggressively anti-LGBT thing I can imagine.
The leather community has always included trans people, lesbians, gay men, and bisexuals. The leather community is global and nuanced. The leather community is where many of us encounter our found families, and our lovers. For you to dismiss that is cold-hearted and ignorant. Just because queer sex is involved, doesn’t make the community dirty or bad.
I’m again fucking begging the baby gays to read/watch/listen to How To Survive A Plague.
Do you have any. Any idea. Any god damn clue. How kink intersects with LGBT and queer community. Queer history. Do you know why the community pushed for, and against, closing the bathhouses during the 80s? Do you know who organized awareness campaigns about HIV, even way back when it was still called GIRD. Do you know who created the safe sex pamphlets, the classes, who pushed for disclosing your health history to partners, who distributed contraceptives and condoms and dental dams at parties and meetings and baths? Do you even know where the safe sex education we have now comes from? Do you know where a bulk of the language about consent came from? Do you have any good god damn idea what the kink communities have done for us, and continue to do for us?
Keep their names out of your mouths because you clearly don’t know what the hell you’re talking about
If there is one thing I could say to young queer folks, especially young queer folks in the U.S. who are coming of age in a world that is more accepting than the one I knew growing up, it’s this:
Don’t be so quick to sanitize your queerness and make it corporate pride daytime TV-friendly. Don’t be so quick to jump on the purity bandwagon. Don’t be so quick to speak on what your community should look like before you’ve actually learned the history of your community, and always be aware that there are things you probably don’t yet know.
These things will not protect you. They never have. And all you’re doing is isolating yourself from community, from support, from the strength we all have when we stand together in a world that would gladly pick us off one by one.
Queerness isn’t as hidden or embattled now (in some places) as it once was, but make no mistake: when our existence was illegal everywhere the people you have this knee-jerk “hide the weirdos” reaction to are the very ones who would’ve had your back against the cops and the gay-bashers.
The people who made me feel safe to come out in my 20s flew the rubber and leather flags alongside the rainbow flag and often the trans flag as well. You don’t get to tell any of them they don’t belong anymore just because you don’t understand.
what I love about tumblr blaze is that it forces people to realize how insulated their bubbles are. tumblr IS really good at allowing users to curate their own personalized experiences, but it also means that people start to think that the drama, opinions, and experiences of their little online sphere is shared by the majority of tumblr (it’s not), so when they blaze their posts they’re just airing their dirty laundry to people that are outside of their echo chamber, and dealing with the consequences of people not automatically agreeing with them. and let me tell you it is delicious to watch
hi OP here! i see you’re talking about me, so here’s my two cents:
if someone is not into the same things as i am, that’s fine. just block and ignore me. i didn’t drag what my writing style and habits are. people CHOSE to look at my profile and put my writing on blast to shame me and humiliate me.
miss julia I am saying this as kindly as possible.
you did not at all deserve any of the death threats you got
you blazed a post telling people to support fanfic writers. people were curious why you would be SO passionate about the subject that you’d spend money to put it on stranger’s blogs outside of your circle, and looked at your blog to see why. you essentially TOLD people to go look at the fanfiction you write. and they found omegaverse mpreg of real ass people who’ve been reduced to parasocial, idealized projections as if they were playthings and not real ass people. and on top of it all, you put a DNI banner on a post that you PAID MONEY TO SHOW TO AS WIDE AN AUDIENCE AS POSSIBLE.
you put on a clown costume and stepped into the spotlight, are you REALLY surprised that people started to point and laugh?
