“And, how long have you two been dating?” your coworker asked you. You sat back in the chair at the cafeteria and let a giant smile grace your face.

“About 6 months,” you answered her. She gushed about how cute you were when you pulled out your phone and she saw your lockscreen, which was one of the cutest selfies you and Barry had taken.

“That picture is seriously adorable... I want a boyfriend, too,” she groaned, laughing lightly. You laughed with her.

“I’m sure you’ll find a guy soon!” you told her, smiling down at your phone. The picture was one that you’d told Barry had to be cute because you wanted a cute profile picture. He was supposed to just smile beside you, slightly behind you so that you’d both fit on the screen. At the last second, he’d dipped his head and pressed his lips to your cheek, though they weren’t puckered and you could see Barry’s smile in the picture. You’d laughed right as you took the picture and ended up liking it more than just a simple standing together one and changed all of your icons, profile pictures, and even your phone background so it was that picture.

Barry had just sent you a text and you quickly opened it, knowing you had to get back to work soon. Your coworker was already starting to throw her garbage away.

Free for dinner tonight?

You smiled to yourself, typing out a quick, Yep. Your place? and standing up, throwing away your own garbage.

Your phone buzzed. The message simply said, Yeah. Come after work. You sent back confirmation and silenced your phone, getting ready for another three hours of work.

You parked in front of Barry’s apartment. He’d moved out of Joe’s place a few weeks back and as much as you loved Joe, you loved having a place to just relax with Barry alone even more. You hurried over to the door and before you could even knock, the door was swinging open to reveal your disheveled boyfriend.

“Hey,” you laughed, stepping in as he stepped to the side. Barry closed the door and locked it, turning and wrapping his arms around you tightly. “You okay?” you murmured, hugging him back just as tightly.

“Just missed you,” he said into your hair. You heard him take a deep breath and then he let you go, letting his hand stay connected with yours. He led you into the kitchen, where there were plates of pasta. You snorted a laugh.

“What a fancy dinner,” you teased him, taking off your light coat and draping it over the chair, sitting down. Barry sat next to you instead of across from you; he didn’t like being too far away from you.

“Oh, shut up,” he laughed, shoving your shoulder lightly. You pouted at him playfully and then scooped a bite of pasta into your mouth.

“Mmm, this is actually really good,” you told him with a mouthful of sauce and pasta. He made a face at you and then laughed, starting to eat as well. There are a few minutes of silence as you shoveled pasta into your mouth, not caring about looking good.

Barry stopped and watched you lovingly for a few seconds. You shot him a confused look, still rolling carbs into your mouth without pausing.

“I remember practicing how to ask you out in the mirror...” he trailed off in wonder. You snorted and choked on pasta, making Barry rush to smack on your back. The pasta dislodged from your throat and you gave Barry an offended look.

“Are you saying I’m not as pretty as you thought when you asked me out?” you asked him, giving him your best angry look. Barry bit his lip guiltily and then shrugged. “Barry!” you shouted, not able to hold back your laugh. Barry laughed with you.

“I may have thought that you were absolutely perfect when I first gathered the courage to ask you out,” he started, making you smile genuinely and shyly. He wrapped an arm around your shoulders, pulling you closer to him as he leaned forward and rested his forehead on yours. “But seeing you like this, messy and, to be honest, kind of gross—” Barry was cut off by you gasping and smacking his arm, moving a few inches away. He laughed loudly and pulled you back, letting his nose nudge against yours. You could feel his breath on your lips as he spoke, his green eyes never leaving yours. “As I was saying, before I was so rudely interrupted, seeing you like this, the real you, the one that you only show to me, has made me fall in love with you.”

“I love you too, Barry,” you whispered, smiling softly at him. You inched forward, nudging his nose with yours the same way he did earlier. His gaze darted down to your lips and he met you halfway, pressing his lips against yours.

Well I don't mind sending you appreciation as long as you write good stuff and Barry fics (man I love Barry)
