"We were in the presence of ('Abdullāh) Ibn 'Awn (ibn Artāt al-Basrī) and he was narrating hadīth. So Ibrāhīm ibn 'Abdur-Rahmān ibn al-Hasan passed by with a mounted escort.
And he was at that time acclaimed as being a ruler after his brother Muhammad had been killed, but nobody dared to even look at him, not to mention getting up, out of respect and awe for Ibn Awn."
'We are ready to eat dust, [but] we will not betray our religion, nor our land, and we do not change colors [based on the situation]. Inconstancy [frequently changing, or taking on different colors based on the situation] is not an attribute of Ahl al-Sunnah.'

"Our call and our ’aqīdah are more beloved to us than ourselves, our wealth and our offspring. We are not prepared to sell it for gold & paper [money]. We say this so that no one may have hope in buying out our call, and think that he can entice us with dīnār & dirham."

"Death carries relief for the believer from the afflictions of this life, even though death has its agonies and calamities." His eyes then became tearful."

written by a teacher in the Netherlands (Abu Yunus حفظه الله).
Important side note: it's important to study these with (reliable) teachers.
beginners stage:
Lum'atul-i'tiqaad / لعمة الاعتقاد :
This is a booklet prepared by the scholar Ibn Qudaamah رحمه الله. In it, he begins the booklet with some important sayings of the pious predecessors about the importance of following the pious predecessors, after which he proceeds to discuss various attributes of Allaah. Then in the rest of the booklet he goes into other important topics, such as the reality of al-Eemaan, the stages of the Hereafter and the status of the sahaabah.
Shuroeh (plural of sharh, or: explanation) of the book:
There are several good shuruh of scholars. The explanation of shaykh Ibn 'Uthaymien رحمه الله is recommended, it has also been translated into Dutch (my edit: also English).
mid phase:
al-'Aqeedah al-Waasitiyyah / العقيدة الواسطية:
was written by the scholar Ibn Taymiyyah رحمه الله. He begins this work by dealing with the attributes of Allaah. Ibn Taymiyyah mentions many proofs from the Qur'an. Later he also mentions several proofs from the Sunnah. Later in the book, he discusses other important topics of Islamic faith.
Several scholars have advised memorizing this booklet. If one wants to take a work or book as a foundation for learning and memorizing Islamic faith, then this is a good book for that.
Shuroeh:
This work has been explained by many scholars. For a concise explanation, the works of Shaykh 'Abdur-Rahmaan as-Si'die and Shaykh Ibn Baaz are useful, then the works of Shaykh Saalih al-Fawzaan and Shaykh Abdul-Aziez ar-Raajihee. حفظهما الله
For a more detailed explanation, the works of shaykh Ibn 'Uthaymeen رحمه الله and shaykh Saalih aal ash-Shaykh حفظه الله are recommended. In addition, the explanation of shaykh Muhammad Harraas رحمه الله recommended by scholars.
final phase:
al-Aqeedah at-Tahaawiyyah/العقيدة الطحاوية:
This work was prepared by the scholar Abu Ja'far at-Tahaawee رحمه الله. In this he deals with various important topics of Islamic faith. He generally follows a sequence, but sometimes certain topics return in several places. The work provides a good overview of various subjects, but does contain some parts that are (or could be) problematic. Therefore, it is important to study this work with a teacher who can provide the necessary clarifications.
Shuroeh:
For someone who is doing the book for the first time, the explanation of shaykh Saalih al-Fawzaan or shaykh 'Abdul-Aziez ar-Raadjihee حفظهما الله.
After that the explanation of shaykh Saalih aal ash-Shaykh حفظه الله is very beneficial. This is an advanced explanation in which he goes into a lot of detail on various issues. An important fundamental explanation of at-Tahaawiyyah is the explanation of the scholar Ibn Abiel-'Izzal, disciple of the scholar Ibn Katheer. This explanation enjoys a high status among scholars and students. In fact, there are even classes that explain this explanation itself! After these books one is, in shaa Allaah, well versed and can be studied books that are at an advanced stage. Works like al-Hamawiyyah, at-Tadmuriyyah and other books where the material is a bit more difficult.
"whenever Allāh عزوجل gives a blessing to a servant, and then takes it back from him, and the servant patiently endures his loss, then He rewards him with a blessing which is better than the one which He took back."
صبرا أيها المبتلى
patience, oh you have been afflicted
فلو علمت ما لك عند الله لضحكت من شدة الفرح
for if you knew what was for you with Allah you would have laughed from the intensity of happiness.
-'Umar bin 'Abdul Aziz | book: the purification of the soul, imām ibn qudāmah al-maqdīsī رحمه الله, dār as-sunnah publications
How can the hearts not love the One who solely brings good, the One who solely eradicates the bad deeds, responds to the supplications, wipes away the faults, forgives the sins, conceals the blemishes, relieves from difficulties, rescues from hardships and fulfills the wants?
Thus, He is
"The most deserving of remembrance, the most deserving of our gratitude, the only one deserving of worship, the most deserving of praise, the best in assistance, the most compassionate of all who reign, the most generous of all those who have been asked, the most giving of anyone who ever gave, the most merciful of anyone who has been asked for mercy and the most noble of all those who have been intended."

Salaam, May I know which Madhab you follow? 🤔 Are you hanafi?
I do not follow a specific madhhab, and base my following upon 'ittibaa' (following the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم based upon the proofs within the Qur'aan and the Soennah).
This video by ustaadh 'AbdurRahmaan Hassan - حفظه الله - is quite interesting and explains broadly regarding this topic.
'we were tested through easy (and joyful) times, but could not muster the patience for it. And we were put to the test faced with difficult times and could have patience for it.'
Allaahumma, allow us to understand patience and act upon it in each moment of our lives.
how often do we tend to forget that aside from our pain, times of ease have their valuable lessons and are our teachers too? and how often do we tend to forget we are tested the most on patience and gratitude to the blessings we receive in contrary to our hardships? the level of deep reflectiveness, patience, gratitude and realization of the wisdoms are often not the same at times when we feel the ease and the ambundance of joy.
reminds me of the saying:
'when a calamity occurs, there is a lot of motivation to be patient. but who can be patient remembering Allaah during ease, while blessing of all types are showering down? however, one should be patient and avoid using them in what opposes the command of Allaah. there is no doubt that this requires a heart connected to remembrance.'
