The sun is shining, the birds are chirping overhead, and the garden is in bloom. And, “She’s kicking,” Sakura says with something like wonder in her voice, in her face. “The baby, she’s-”
And Syaoran… Well, he doesn’t drop the watermelon in his arms in shock, but it’s a close thing. “Kicking? Is it- Is she supposed to-” He can’t find his words, stumbles in his haste to rid himself of his cargo so he can join his wife on the bench. In the end, he places it gently on the ground, and kneels by Sakura’s knees. “Can I?” His hands shake.
Sakura nods, smile brighter than the high noon sun. “Of course. Here.”
Her hands are steady as they guide Syaoran’s to different places on her belly, and Syaoran is in so much awe. It intensifies a thousand fold when the baby kicks again and he can actually feel the shift under his palms. His eyes grow wide. “She’s-”
“Yes.” One of Sakura’s hands moves to wipe gently at his cheeks, and it’s only then that Syaoran realises that at some point, he’s started crying. Happy tears, he thinks, his chest, his very being warm with so much love. Yes, definitely happy tears. “Yes, she is.”
Syaoran nods, cheeks hurting with the force of his grin. “We should find a name for her soon.”
Amazing. Tumblr is well known for its cult followings of niche animated films and there's almost NOTHING on this site for my all time favorite Don Bluth film The Secret of NIHM so appreciation post time.
The film was an obvious labor of love, and its filled with mysticism and experimental lighting techniques. The art is fucking to die for and most of characters are at least tolerable to an adult audience. This is coming from someone who has ALSO read the book and I actually enjoyed the films additions and changes for a compelling sort of back yard fantasy story.
If you don't know anything about it, the story follows a newly widowed mouse named Mrs. Brisby who's trying to move her family from the feild before the farmer plows it. Her son Timmothy gets a terrible case of pneumonia so she has to go to the rats who live in the farmer's rosebush to help her move her entire house.
i love looking at the tags on this post because most of them are just like wow what a colorful friend! and then there are the people who know what a french knot is who are freaking out
Japanese-American taiko drumming brings a lot of the rhythms of jazz into the traditional Japanese art, so Benny Goodman + taiko is actually not that big of a stretch.
I’ve never seen fusion taiko before; that was amazing. And the fact that they were drumming and also dancing 40s Charleston at the same time was incredible.
This is really important to me as a Japanese American knowing that this is the same time period Americans of Japanese descent were being interned in concentration camps.
This feels both exciting because of the cultural fusion and extremely important because of the reclamation and statement it makes. Grateful to see this on my dash
to all my non-filipino moots out there who probably have no idea what i’ve been sharing with my filipino anons right now,
OUR COUNTRY IS FUCKED.
imagine choosing a dictator’s son—whose family robbed many people’s lives, our nation’s funds, and even our people’s freedom of speech and expression—whose only platform is “unity”, faked his degree in oxford, has been jobless for six years, and is charged for multiple cases of tax evasion over a woman who has received a post graduate degree, is an attorney, is a strong mother to three daughters who are all successful, who has been the main proponent for the country’s solutions to covid-19, who is not afraid to take on any circumstances despite any hatred and judgement she has faced from misogynists, fake news peddlers, and misinformed people.
imagine choosing a mediocre actor and comedian who has no background in political science and law or whatsoever over an attorney whose platforms are evidence-based and are relevant to the country’s current struggles, just because of his looks.
i personally am worried for my future, and for the future of my fellow countrymen if this is the kind of mindset that majority of people will stick to. i am in pain. i am filled with anxiety about how the next six years will turn out to be for me if corruption and unjust governance will lead the country. though these might be the unofficial results of yesterday’s election, it shows everyone that people can be stupid and fucked in the head, letting themselves make the same mistakes they did decades ago.
stocks are plummeting with the spread of this sad news and the foreign investors are probably laughing at us right now. i know why. this leading candidate is banned in many countries for his crimes yet people are still voting for him.
the worst part is people believe that keeping a good character is enough to lead a country. sure, it is integral, but judging how people want to vote for an undergraduate and his evil upbringing, many people are starting to question if their hard work for getting a degree is still worthwhile, and this includes me.
i am speaking in behalf of many filipinos who are not satisfied with the results of the election. it’s very saddening for me to see selfish adults celebrating the “win” of a thief while their children are filled with horror and anguish.
fuck the marcoses. i stand proudly to fight for what’s right and i keep my moral integrity in me. 💖🌸🌷
HUWAG NINYONG IDAMAY ANG BUONG BANSA SA KATANGAHAN NINYO.
Hello, everyone. As much as I want to keep politics away from my blog, it has become hard not to be able to speak up. There are a lot of issues that have been popping up here and there because of the current progress of the election in our country, and it’s heartbreaking. This is not a ploy to win your pity, but it is a plea for help.
I am not aware if you have heard anything like this, but international customers that have commissioned Filipino artists are pulling back their orders because of the misguided belief that every filipino they know is a supporter of a tyrant.
I am sorry if I cannot provide ID image (describing photos in words is not my strong point), but I hope this will at least be able to light things on our international audience in the field that we are that the situation in our country is nothing to scoff at nor is it anything to laugh or gossip about. This our country and our future at stake, so please, if you can, do no lose hope on the people that actually wants a better future for our fellow filipinos. We might be seen as martyrs, but our love for our country and our desire for better things is stronger.
If you have commissioned PH artists, please do not pull out your order. We need you this time more than we did before, and to see that some of you have given up on filipinos is heart shattering in so many mays. Please continue your commission to PH artist — help them instead. Start showing your support more than ever. It doesn’t always have to be about money, but I figure the most important thing is for everyone, filipino or not, to raise awareness that the situation in the Philippines is at risk of heading to a much larger crisis.
The same goes not just for PH artists, but also for any PH creators out there. Freelance musicians, game devs, writers, voice actors, and so many more.
Again, I am not — we are not doing this to win your pity, and we are not doing this to exploit your kindness. We are simply and justifiably concerned about our country and its people because right now, the future looks anything but bright. I might sure if I got my point across, but my desperation to voice out what I cannot do in my own country has gotten far too strong just be bottled-up inside, and my emotions have turned messy.
RIGHT NOW, WE NEED YOUR HELP MORE THAN EVER, SO PLEASE DON’T GIVE UP ON US TOO.
