if you’re in custody, say nothing. invoke your right to remain silent and your right to a lawyer. if the police are asking you to come in to “tell your side of the story” and you decide to go, bring a lawyer friend with you just for fun. even if you’re not in custody, anything you say can and will be used against you. nothing you say to law enforcement will ever be used in your favor. police interrogators are skilled in manipulative psychological techniques and you have the right to protection regardless of your guilt or innocence. know your rights!
