A story for you as you’re bored - my boyfriend is fully aware of my 1D passion (I subject him to their music a bit too often) and how I read fanfic etc but he never actively *engaged* with the topic apart from the occasional chat, he doesn’t really know anything about them and even if I rant about Louis or Harry he never actually asks. Well, today somehow he ended up asking me “but so 1D broke up cause they had a fight or why?” ….and I was like…man….where do I even start hahah. I looked at him and said “you sure you want to know?” and I thought about that tumblr post “for your own sake, don’t ask me about one direction” and damn, so true. I spoke passionately for the following 20 minutes and I even made an effort to spare him all the details I could have gone into… fun part is that the poor thing actually listened. Guess it’s only fair after all the things I had to learn about football in the past years to keep up with him. Anyways, being in this fandom sometimes suck but taking the trip down the 2014/2015/2016 memory lane made me nostalgic and very fucking aware of how I would willingly give up on way too much (like my dignity? A kidney? My savings? All of the above?) just to see them together again. I know it would never be the same but damn, I’m almost 30 and still here, a hostage of this fucking band. Stockholm Syndrome my ass.

oh my god!!! literally a few days ago i was having a bad day and so my friends and i ended up watching old 1d videos, like i'm talking about xfactor auditions and i just. the baby who sang "isn't she lovely" is topping charts now??? and also, baby larry were something else like you could see they were sooooo in love!!! i feel like you can not explain the 1d fandom experience to anyone without looking like a crazed person because there's so much to unpack hgaayakfahk also in your list of given up things, you forgot sanity because that's also gone 💀💀💀
