It's gonna be so interesting seeing how the show deals with Ben's ordeal. Not fan reaction, and all the bias involved, but the actual show and character's responses.

Theyre in such a narratively fascinating place right now. You've got the rape (that will be hard to watch) and how Ben and his loved ones, and maybe even other characters beyond that sphere react to it and deal with it. Then you've got Ben and Callum’s marital issues, their broken trust, Ben's mental health, fear of homophobia - Callum’s inability to see things from his perspective.

There's so much they could explore, in so many interesting ways. Right now, Eastenders are sat on a goldmine of interesting, moving, character led and character focused storytelling that could strengthen a number of their characters.

Let's hope they use this SL to its full potential.

What are your thoughts on ben storyline in eastEnders?

I’m really enjoying Ben being a vigilante and beating up homophobes. I like the ballum angst.

I’m kind of worried for the [email protected] story but hopefully they do the important issue justice since it affects so many people in real life.

Im hopeful we’ll get good Ben scenes and ballum scenes and the show does justice to both.

rewatching the scene where ben announces to callum that the wedding is off and Ben going “I will hurt you, I will try not to but I will hurt you”…FUCKKKK how that hits even harder now.

Have you given up on Vanity?

I've given up in that I'm just no longer expecting them to get back together. I was already feeling doubtful about it, but knowing Michelle will likely be going on maternity leave again in the not so distant future was kinda the last push for me to just give up completely (and this isn't me being negative about Michelle and Kate’s life choices because I'm obvs very happy for them and any future baby!)

But with the shitshow they’ve put them through and no hope in sight I feel like that's just it for them now, Vanessa will leave again at some point, and maybe in a year or five years or twenty years they could decide to go there again but that's not really anything worth holding on to.

Even if by some miracle they did get back together before her mat leave, I certainly don't trust them to deal with another absence with them together after how the last one turned out. So either way there's not really anything to hope for at this point.

Obviously, if they did get back together, even if it was for five minutes, I'd be all over it and clinging to them for dear life for as long as it lasted. They still occupy a large chunk of my brain and I miss them all the time :( but unless that day miraculously comes I'll just be over here expecting nothing and trying to forget Emmerdale exists for my own sanity.

Here we go, The straw that broke the camel's back ..... Ben lying about Lewis knowing his the attacker Callum thinking the worst. Really not looking forward to next week.

I don't think I can actually cope with next week's Eastenders. Just thinking about it is giving me painful anxiety.

ee need to stop doing the “women fight over a man” storyline bc the women end up having more chemistry and tension with each other than either of them do with the man and it just falls flat!
