Hey what do you think of giant coral reef mers with anemone hair and tiny clownfish mers living in said anemo-hair?

👀👀👀 OOOOOOO - A mer that’s a whole environment?? I love it!! 💖 Double-checking this I realize my brain thought of a whole coral reef instead of “anemone”, but now my thoughts are going wild so I’m gonna go for it 😆

I know that the square-cubed law is mostly ignored in this community (for obvious reasons), but this would still theoretically work with that too since the giant would be underwater. Their weight wouldn’t be such an issue there, and the mer could realistically get ridiculously large.

I’d personally like to envision them as a guardian of sorts - like a spirit of the earth that keeps their particular forest healthy and vibrant, except with a coral reef - the whole of their hair running all the way down their back in an expanse of branching coral varieties, long since encrusted with starfish and teeming with life, from sea turtles to actual fish. They love the company of the much smaller clownfish mers, even if they can’t make out the particulars of their tiny faces, but just knowing that they’ve become a home and safe haven for so many little ones fills them up with a calm, peaceful joy they couldn’t get any other way. Not only do they keep their marine forest beautiful and bountiful, but they’ve become a home and a source of comfort for generations. They treasure each and every one of their little friends - who, despite living such short lives compared to their own - they’ve come to see as family. As their own beautiful children that they would do anything in the world for…

Meanwhile, the clownfish mers have been living on the back of this gargantuan reef mer for what seems like forever. Generations have lived full and happy lives, and passed on in peace surrounded by loved ones. Even those who have felt abandoned and alone have found themselves loved by this (comparatively) slow-moving, gentle behemoth, whose very voice makes the reef below them tremble with the bass of even their softest whispers. Some decide to see the being as a god to be worshipped (though they are thankfully mostly harmless due to their attempts to mimic the giving role that their god sets), but the majority of the Living City’s citizens see them for what they are - a benevolent beast of a mer who, despite all the power and terrifying potential for the opposite, has chosen to be a source of life and prosperity. Their Blessed Guardian.

But despite all this, even those who hold such reverence for the reef mer have hardly ever dared to speak to them. How could they? Would they even be able to hear them? Would they be able to understand their minuscule voices? And friendly or not, what if the guardian finds they don’t like one mer in particular, for whatever reason? Would they be kicked out of their paradise, left to wander the sea until they managed to find another reef - one stagnated to one spot, and likely prowled by sharks? No. It couldn’t be worth it. Not even to say ‘thank you’ to this mighty being. Instead, they can continue to say their thanks by playing in the reef mer’s view - by showing their happiness with each other where the mer can see it, and to give their tiny presents of food and goods to their guardian on festival days and other special occasions.

Until one day, when a very particular little clownfish mer is forced to interact directly with the Blessed Guardian, and for the first time, the reef mer finds themselves being spoken to by one of their little, treasured friends.

i think my biggest problem is that i literally do not know how to interact with people like i’ll talk to someone and really enjoy their company and then i’ll ghost them for six months because i think i’m being annoying and then i’m like “well no point in talking to them now they probably don’t even remember my existence”

ever since we changed wifi router our printer stopped working bc it refuses to connect to the new one no matter what we do which, while not ideal, was easily circumvented by printing things through our smartphones instead of the computer. but obviously my dad couldnt let it rest. nuh uh he just had to see if he could fix it. so in these past few months he has done everything short of calling a professional bc he’s convinced he can do it on his own. which would have been fine if it weren’t that in one of his tries he accidentally deactivated who the fuck knows what setting which made it so that the WIRELESS printer cannot fucking WIRELESSLY print anymore. which means we might as well not have a printer rn bc despite being the one to turn the setting off he can’t seem to find a way to undo it. in my modest opinion the printer is alive and evil and has caught up on his efforts to make it work again and decided that toying with his mental sanity would be funny. my dad is at his wits’ end my mother is sick of all of this shit and furious at my dad for messing with it and causing the issue in the first place. i’m genuinely convinced their marriage is going to fall apart

What sort of games do you enjoy? I might be able to suggest some things!

I like story/character driven stuff a lot! Visual novels are an option but I prefer them to be lgbtq+ if they're romances and have some visual interest. This is my fave thing by far so anything with a great story/choice options/dialogue/etc is great! A good soundtrack doesn't hurt either.

I like building and resource management games a lot too but only if there's like. emotional stakes/a plot to follow. I don't love just freely building stuff (I really have to be in the mood for something like minecraft or settlement survival or rimworld to the point that I barely rlly play them. Frostpunk-esque stuff is more my speed.)

Generally sim/rpg games. Stuff with cooking and crafting. Nothing too stressful (DEFINITELY not horror games im too much of a baby jhfdsbf)
