Democrats be like "We don't have the votes to do anything!" as if they didn't make the deliberate choice to sabotage the primaries in order to tank a wildly popular centrist and install a right-wing zombie whom no one has ever liked--AFTER how well that worked out for them LAST time. (And yes, Bernie Sanders is a centrist; it's not my fault anyone to the left of him gets assassinated by the CIA.) Things might have been different if the voters had something to vote FOR and not just something to vote AGAINST, just saying.
And even as things stand the story MIGHT be different if Biden were willing to lean on Manchin and Sinema over the filibuster the way Trump would lean on any Republican who got in the way of his plans. The reason he doesn't is that he doesn't ACTUALLY want to fulfill his campaign promises, lackluster and halfassed as they were, because that would make his corporate masters sad. It's much safer and much easier to do what Democrats always do: accomplish nothing and blame the Republicans for their failures.
