American redstart, breeding male. Not the best angle for its plumage, but...round (and not positioned to shit on me) 😍

the reason children chase birds is because birds are held together by feathers and the wisdom of ancient gods, and the children can sense it. they want the wisdom for themselves, but they are not yet old or wise enough to know that they have to wait for the birds to come to them.

#this is about pigeons btw #but also every other bird #theyre not of this world i swear

Excerpt from this story from The Revelator:

Since it first turned up, this highly transmissible and lethal new strain of avian flu has circulated at high rates among domestic fowl on backyard and commercial farms, resulting in the deaths of a reported 37 million birds on farms in the United States alone. Some died directly from the of infection, while many others were culled as part of the country’s response to the disease outbreak. Bird flu has spread to at least 176 commercial farms and 134 backyard bird farms, housing mainly poultry like chickens and turkeys, across 34 states. It has hit especially hard in the Midwest and Central United States, regions with intensive commercial poultry operations.
The disease has also turned up in wild birds, with fatal consequences never previously observed. The first confirmed case was reported in a wild bird killed by a hunter and tested in January as part of routine U.S. wildlife-disease surveillance efforts. As of this month, more than 1,000 wild birds across the country have died after being infected.
Wild birds, including many waterfowl species, are often carriers of low-pathogenic or mild bird flu viruses. These viruses rarely cause severe disease in their natural hosts. But lethal bird flu viruses can and do kill wildlife, and this year’s hybrid H5N1 is proving especially deadly to wild birds in the United States and Europe.
It’s also spreading fast: While people have been busy navigating the second year of the global Covid-19 pandemic, this worrying bird virus outbreak has spread in more than 60 countries across Europe, Africa, Asia and the Americas. Many European countries face record-high levels of lethal bird flu.
Then and now, bird flu proves that a reaction-oriented approach to serious viruses emerging at the intersection of human and nonhuman health is inadequate for stopping the spread of disease. Many animal-health and infectious disease experts now underscore the need to prevent rather than fight the next animal disease epidemic.

Colin for 9C (either as a computer or as a bird)?

Warning: blood, bruises, implied fighting, and overall injury! Look elsewhere if these make you uncomfy!!

Ok I have absolutely NO idea why the quality got butchered on this BUT I decided to do this with bird Colin! Now he is in fight mode cuz after seeing Tony get turned into an object…. Ohoho he is not going to be very kind to Roy… neither will Roy be kind to him… SO UH Colin sure did put up a fight but… well… he never stood a chance in the end… (hhhhhHHH I WANT TO PUNCH ROY-) but at first I didn’t think of making Colin fight Roy in my backstory BUT this request really really got me thinking and opened up so many new possibilities! (Also thinking of Colin fighting to protect Sketch and his other friends/coworkers *sniff* it’s beautiful but it makes my heart HURT-) ANYWHO I know I went overboard with the injuries BUT this was rlly fun to do! I need to draw bird Colin more- but either way I hope u like this!!

#Colin looks scary when he’s mad- both computer and bird form lol #dhmis #don’t hug me i’m scared #dont hug me im scared #dhmis colin#my art#tw blood#tw injury#tw bruises#tw fighting #ask to tag #Also can I just say drawing my bird characters angry is so fun- like I mean just their EXPRESSIONS and FEATHERS!!!!! #A!!!!! #i love drawing bird characters <3

On the worst or the best days everything would click into place and she would know the number of years it had been since she lost her wings and she would cry out silent and plead with the god the lab scientists had not believed in that she would be able to go back to the place where she could not tell the time at all. The god that nonetheless the lab chaplain had invoked when consecrating the experiments, as if it made a difference to the Strange Bird. For what was anyone who allowed such a place if not a monster?
