There was a racially motivated mass shooting of black folks the other day. A disgusting excuse of a person went and picked people off simply and specifically because they were black.
Non black folks, we need to be actively protecting our black friends, physically and mentally and emotionally. This shit is real life. This shit isn’t just words on a website. People are singled out and radicalized on websites, and then they turn off their computer or put down their phones and commit violence and hate in the real world. You need to be actively and loudly anti racist. Protect your fucking friends.

Gas prices so high that many people aren't even able to afford the fuel to drive to their low wage jobs.
Indigenous people missing daily yet the news doesn't report them, only white girls seem to make the news.
Dirty cops getting away with murder.
Crimes against Asians going up.
Families separated at the border.
Kids getting bullied at school who end up ending their young lives.
Hate crimes against the LGBTQIA community.
People not believing in science (Covid vaccinations, global warming).

Sometimes I forget that real life is not like social media.
People, people close to me, the people I love, are transphobes, mysoginists, criticise humans because of their way of acting, clothes, fatness or sexuality.
The communities I'm part of are really liberal, we share about gender, sexuality, inclusion and new ideas for a brighter future, but thanks to this experience, I realised that the internet mantains us in our bubbles of the things we like or the things we agree with.
What I'm trying to say, if you don't see what you don't want to see, you should investigate, inform yourself. Realising how much negativity is still constant in our society was heartbreaking for me, but was the dose of realism I needed, and now I'm ready to keep on fighting for our rights.
Let's get out of our bubbles.

I just want everyone to imagine what kind of media response we would have if a black or brown person drove several miles from their home, went into a white neighborhood, opened fire in a grocery store, got into a whole shootout with a retired police officer working as a security guard, killed that retired police officer along with nine others, and wrote a 108-PAGE MANIFESTO before the entirely premeditated event claiming that he was doing it simply because they were white and felt that there were too many white people in the country. Imagine the media response. Imagine the police response.
It’s never been about mental health. Stop pretending you care about it only when it’s to absolve a white terrorist. It serves to stoke the fear of people who are actually struggling with mental health challenges while absolving white supremacists at the same time. This cause maximal harm from both angles.
