    A magical outlet

While everyone is sleeping most of the time I am up. My mind doesn't wanna shut off very often. I am always thinking about something or just too wired up to sleep. I guess I have always been like this, I've always been able to function on 3-4 hours of sleep and some nights I would stay up all night. Life isn't always easy so a lot of my downtime when my kids are asleep is when I tend to either write in my journals, Yes I use to have a diary/Journal I don't always write in it all the time but I do like to write about what is going through my mind at the time. It can be about what I have gone through that day or stuff from my past I am still dealing with. Someday I think I would like to write about my life or some of the stuff I have gone through, kind of like a memoir. Who knows what will happen in the future. I have always loved reading and writing anything that I could really write about that has interested me.

Life isn't always easy so I still to stuff I do know. Writing about my life and the tough times I've gone through or just to write stuff down so I don't forget it. I have issues with long term memory. My mom told me the doctor said I would have to write stuff down if I wanted to remember it. Hey its life, I don't know any better so it really doesn't bother me in the least. A lot of my childhood til about 10 I don't really remember everything. I remember pieces. Which stuff I have had to deal with I'm glad in these times I don't remember it all.

With writing I have also LOVED reading it has always been an escape for me when there was something in my life that weighed heavily on my mind. I struggled with reading for years growing up cause I am dyslexic. I found ways to understand what I was reading so I could enjoy it and I'm glad for it. I worked hard but I have always pushed ahead when it was something I was passionate about. Reading is really magical and I really enjoy it. Reading can take you to any place, time period and hell you can even read about shifters, vampires, witches and all kinds of other stuff. I'm big into reading all about romances from romantic comedies, to smut, to dark romances, to shifter romances and magical romances with witches and vampires. I love MC Romances and Military romances and just all the in between. I remember reading my first romance I believe it was a Sandra Brown romance that at 12 probably shouldn't have been reading but I had also was reading those harlequin books that I loved and was reading 2-3 in a day during the weekend growing up.

What are some of the things that your passionate about, that you enjoy doing that helps when you are down and need an outlet to forget for a little bit? I hope you have something like I have with reading/writing and I also have it with music too. There are a lot of outlets you can have to help when you need it.

I hope everyone has a blessed night!

"Waiting or someone to love you back seems beautiful in a miserable way when you're young. No offense." She smiles. "But a life spent waiting is not a life spent loving. It's a life spent wasting away on the promise of something you're not guaranteed."

for the last essay we had to write in high school english, our teacher let us pick any book to write on and i, of course, being INSUFFERABLE(!), chose naked lunch. and in the lead up the the essay final exam he kept making us do all these interactive activities like “pick a partner and introduce yourself to them like you’re the main character of your chosen book! 🤪” and i was like mr. taylor……….. HOW.

#the topic was ‘how is the ending of your book significant? 🤪’ #and i quoted dante’s inferno and wrote for fifty frantic minutes about how books don’t always end. sometimes they merely…. cease #so yeah. that too was a harbinger of the philosophy major thing.

In a few years' time, and with very little self-reflection, we've sprinted headlong from merely searching Google to relying on it for directions, calendars, address books, video, entertainment, voice mail, and telephone calls. One billion of us have posted our most intimate details on Facebook and willingly provided social networking graphs of our friends, family, and co-workers. We've downloaded billions of apps, and we rely on them to help us accomplish everything from banking and cooking to archiving baby pictures. We connect to the Internet via our laptops, mobile phones, iPads, TiVos, cable boxes, PS3s, Blu-rays, Nintendos, HDTVs, Rokus, Xboxes, and Apple TVs.

The positive aspects of this technological evolution are manifest. Over the past hundred years, rapid advances in medical science mean that the average human life span has more than doubled and child mortality has plummeted by a factor of ten. Average per capita income adjusted for inflation around the world has tripled. Access to a high-quality education, so elusive to many for so long, is free today via Web sites such as the Khan Academy. And the mobile phone is singularly credited with leading to billions upon billions of dollars in direct economic development in nations around the globe.

The interconnectivity the Internet provides through its fundamental architecture means that disparate peoples from around the world can be brought together as never before. A woman in Chicago can play Words with Friends with a total stranger in the Netherlands. A physician in Bangalore, India, can remotely read an interpret the X-ray results of a patient in Boca Raton, Florida. A farmer in South Africa can use his mobile phone to access the same crop data as a PhD candidate at MIT. This interconnectedness is one of the Internet's greatest strengths, and as it grows in size, so too does the global network's power and utility. There is much to celebrate in our modern technological world.

While the advantages of the online world are well documented and frequently highlighted by those in the tech industry, there is also a downside to all of this interconnectivity.

Our electrical grids, air traffic control networks, fire department dispatch systems, and even the elevators at work are all critically dependent on computers. Each day, we plug more and more of our daily lives into the global information grid without pausing to ask what it all means. Mat Honan found out the hard way, as have thousands of others. But what should happen if and when the technological trappings of our modern society – the foundational tools upon which we are utterly dependent – all go away? What is humanity's backup plan? In fact, none exists.

“That is my decision. We need not discuss it,” said the man at the desk. He was already looking at a book. His two children left the room, closing the door behind them.

“He doesn't want us around,” the boy muttered. “He doesn't care what we want.”

“We know that,” was the girl's answer. “He doesn't care about anything, except his books and scrolls.”

The boy hit the wall. “I don't want to be a knight! I want to be a great sorcerer! I want to slay demons and walk with the gods – ”

“D'you think I want to be a lady?” his sister asked. “Sit still, Alanna.  Shoulders back, Alanna.” As if that's all I can do with myself!” She paced the floor. “There has to be another way.”

The boy watched the girl. Thom and Alanna of Trebond were twins, both with red hair and purple eyes. The only difference between them – as far as most people could tell – was the length of their hair. In face and body shape, dressed alike, they would have looked alike.

“Face it,” Thom told Alanna. “Tomorrow you leave for the convent, and I go to the palace. That's it.”

“Why do you get all the fun?” she complained. “I'll have to learn sewing and dancing. You'll study tilting, fencing – ”

“D'you think I like that stuff?” he yelled. “I hate falling down and whacking at things. You're the one who likes it, not me!”

She grinned. “You should have been Alanna. They always teach the girls magic – ” The thought hit her so suddenly that she gasped. “Thom. That's it!”

From the look on her face, Thom knew his sister had just come up with yet another crazy idea. “What's it?” he asked suspiciously.

Alanna looked around and checked the hall for servants. “Tomorrow he gives us the letters for the man who trains the pages and the people at the convent. You can imitate his writing, so you can do new letters, saying we're twin boys. You go to the convent. Say in your letter that you're to be a sorcerer. The Daughters of the Goddess are the ones who train young boys in magic, remember? When you're older, they'll send you to the priests. And I'll go to the palace and learn to be a knight!”

“That's crazy,” Thom argued. “What abour your hair? You can't go swimming naked, either. And you'll turn into a girl – you know, with a chest and everything.”

“I'll cut my hair,” she said. “And – well, I'll handle the rest when it happens.”

No live organism can continue for long to exist sanely under conditions of absolute reality; even larks and katydids are supposed, by some, to dream. Hill House, not sane, stood by itself against its hills, holding darkness within; it had stood so for eighty years and might stand for eighty more. Within, walls continued upright, bricks met neatly, floors were firm, and doors were sensibly shut; silence lay steadily against the wood and stone of Hill House, and whatever walked there, walked alone.

"By practicing this kind of thinking, you can help yourself disarm the power of suicidal thoughts and other negative emotions--at least enough to survive until you're able to get further help. You establish that you are not the same thing as your thoughts, and you are not subject to suffering from them. It takes practice and isn't a replacement for medication or the support of a doctor (until you become a fully enlightened being, that is), but it can do you lots of good. Practicing detachment helps you realize that your pain isn't permanent, and you, therefore, don't need the permanent solution of suicide to get rid of it."

"I want to learn about you. I'm not a book. Palms aside. You can't read me once and know everything."
"Then I will read you again and again. I know. I know you're not a book. I know I can't know everything. I know it is important to you that I do not. Or perhaps that no one does. But... if there is anything you want to give. One story. One solitary point on the map of yourself. One star in the constellation, one door unlocked. I will accept it, and be honored, and I will not forget."
