So I made it to Florida without incident. I’m going to get a covid test this afternoon, just preventatively. About half the people on the plane wore masks; almost no one at the airport or elsewhere wore them. Covid? What’s that? Aw, just a conspiracy, right?
It’s so good to see my dad not on a little screen.

Don’t you love how every time I say I’m going to try to get back into writing the newsletter every week, and then I – like – say I’m going to really and truly hold myself accountable “this time,” I then disappear on the newsletter-front for about a month? Or more? Every time?
Well anyway…

So how about that monkeypox?

The Plight of the Poor in Pandemic is a poem, to which most people can relate to. For the last couple of years, the entire world got shut down. People were forced to stay indoors. A few million people lost their jobs and many others lost their lives. The people who used to survive on their daily wages suffered a lot.
COVID-19 is considered as the greatest economic calamity since the Great…

Indonesia's palm oil export ban is a double-edged sword
Indonesia’s palm oil export ban is a double-edged sword
Authors: Rania Teguh and Albert Jehoshua Rapha, CSIS Indonesia
Indonesia is the world’s largest palm oil producer. On 28 April 2022, the government ordered an export ban designed to address domestic cooking oil shortages and reduce food prices. The policy extends to crude oil and refined products, and is expected to last until the price of cooking oil dips below Rp 14,000 (US$1) per litre.

When the COVID-19 pandemic began in March of 2020, there were, I think, 200,000+ lives that have been lost to this virus; And now, fast-forward to today, and this week alone, we have reached the very grim milestone of 1 million lives that have been lost to COVID-19…
And one must have to know of something else: It really does not have to be this way. Now, think about this: If then-President Donald Trump had paid serious attention to the seriousness of this virus instead of thinking that it is going to “disappear like a miracle”, those thousand lives could have been saved. Instead, Donald Trump just downplayed the virus, acting like it is no big deal; he just simply brushed it off, and because he brushed it off, he did the unthinkable, something that most of us feared for a long time: A President ignoring a serious warning that has cost those millions of lives which have been lost today.
Millions of lives have been lost because Donald Trump did something like this, all because he did not care about millions of families grieving a loved one that they have lost to the virus. He did not care about those many families that will not share dinner with someone they love at the table because that loved one lost his or her life due to the virus. And Donald Trump did not care about the many hearts that have been broken because their loved ones have died due to COVID-19, nor did Trump ever care about families facing huge medical bills in the near future because of the economic cost of losing a loved one to the virus.
And here is also the thing: Donald Trump does not ever care for the millions of people that have lost their jobs due to many non-essential businesses that have been forced to lock down and now they do not have any means of income or could soon be running out of options for income. Trump does not care about the families that have been struggling to put food on the table to be put in the mouths of their children; Trump never really cared about the children who were sent home from school and have been forced to have remote learning, and Trump does not have any caring in his heart for the many teachers who have been forced to face this reality of teaching from their schools while their students have been forced to learn from home.
Donald Trump does not really care, nor does he ever will, about the many people who have been and are still struggling in this pandemic, especially those people who have lost millions of their loved ones to COVID-19, a tragedy that could have and should have been prevented had he not fired the entire pandemic response team back in 2018. Instead, all Donald Trump cares about and still cares about is making up crazy lies and conspiracy theories while denying his wrongdoing and blames them on other people, as well as calling the news media who blames him for everything “fake news” all because he could fulfill his own political ego as well as his own political gain, in which I call this political greed.
Donald Trump’s despicable irresponsibility of the handling of the pandemic has indeed cost the United States of America one million lives, and I am thinking that is the ultimate regret that Trump is going to have to live with for the rest of his life.
Meanwhile, while we continue to pause and mourn the lives of the one million people that have been lost to COVID-19, we must find a way to get Congress to do something to prevent such a pandemic like this from ever happening again, even if it means not giving up without a fight and fighting harder than ever.
Let us never forget those lives, and may the Lord God bless those who have lost one million of their loved ones.
#fully thought it was a joke at first because of the disease name #but apparently it's real? #on mass.gov and everything #man. #if we have an additional airborne pandemic during the covid pandemic idk what I'm gonna do #boring text posts #covid-19

North Korea’s suspected COVID-19 caseload nears 2 million
By KIM TONG-HYUNG
SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — North Korea on Thursday reported 262,270 more cases of people with suspected symptoms of COVID-19 as its pandemic caseload neared 2 million — a week after the country acknowledged the outbreak and scrambled to slow the rate of infections despite a lack of health care resources.
The country is also trying to prevent its fragile economy from…
“He’s going to survive this,” I thought as the physician’s assistant explained that my father was finally stable enough to have a stent implanted in his coronary artery. In the more than a week and a half since his heart attack, my dad transferred hospitals, got dozen scans and had his blood was drawn more than two dozen times. He’d been scheduled for a stent, then open heart surgery was…
