Yuri Manga 'Doughnuts Under A Crescent Moon' Ends

The final chapter in Shio Usui's shakaijin Yuri manga Doughnuts Under a Crescent Moon (Kaketa Tsuki to Donuts) was released Wednesday in the July issue of Comic Yuri Hime. The manga's fourth and final collected volume will be published in Japanese this July by Ichijinsha.

The series creator, Shio Usui, posted on Twitter a celebratory message commemorating the series conclusion and thanking readers for their support.

Doughnuts Under a Cresent Moon follows coworkers Hinako and Sato. Despite different personalities and goals, the two form an unexpected friendship that begins to blossom. As they help each other with their past and mental wounds, the women start to develop feelings for each other. The manga is licensed in English by Seven Seas Entertainment, which describes the series:

Uno Hinako throws herself into makeup, fashion, and falling in love, hoping that will make her seem “normal” to the other people at her job. But no matter how hard she tries, she’s a self-doubting mess inside, and her attempts at “normal” romance with men just keep failing. When she starts to think she might be alone forever, a new normal presents itself in the form of her relationship with Asahi Sato, a level-headed woman who works at her company. It starts as respect, and then it becomes far more intimate.

Doughnuts Under a Cresent Moon has received praise from critics for its characters and tackling of social issues. Rebecca Silverman of Anime News Network gave the series' second volume a B+ and YuriMother awarded the first volume a 9/10 score, writing that it "handles its emotional and powerful story with grace and patience."

Shio Usui is a Yuri mangaka known for Doughnuts Under a Crescent Moon and Onna Tomodachi to Kekkon Shitemita (Trying Out Marriage With My Female Friend), which is currently serialized in Comic Yuri Hime. They have contributed to the Chocolat and Doujin Onna Yuri anthologies.

Does Happy Chaos have any control over his powers and abilities or are they randomized similar to Faust? His victory animations with the Crescent Moon are amusing but it's quite interesting how he's surprised and confused whenever he successfully holsters the gun or accidentally creates replicas. He never struck me as the type to be surprised by anything.

Hate to correct you but Faust's powers aren't as randomized as you might think.

While it is true that sometimes he enters his Dimensional Doors and doesn't know exactly where he will end up, he still has a very skilled and reliable ability to summon them, as he has done many times throughout GG's Story.

That includes item summons, while still random… are still a technique he can always reliably use (in other words, there has never been an instance where he tried to summon an item or door and such failed on him…).

As for Happy Chaos, his techniques with a Gun are based on Knowledge he absorbed from the Backyard, so he is "attempting" to apply the physical knowledge/physical memory to his Gunplay.

That being said, the results don't always apply well since his body hasn't fully synced up with the knowledge he absorbed (which is why he sometimes drops the gun, but also why he sometimes executes holstering perfectly…)

The more time he spends actually using his Gun, most likely he will get more proficient, so in a sense, his techniques are similar to the growing and evolving battle instincts of a GEAR.

He was not originally a fighter, or even someone with knowledge of fighting techniques, so the shift to this really all depends on what kind of trouble he gets in to.

As for the Crescent Moon replicas that appear… that is the result of his tampering with various closed-off Timeline Paradoxes… it's also part of what created Deus Ex Machina… his multiple "overlap" of Bullets in a singular firing space.

While he isn't quite the same as Axl Low or I-No in terms of the ability to Time Travel, he still has some grasp on how that power works, and has been taking advantage of it to manipulate History to an unknown extent.

I tried the no line art technique 😣😖

I have not touched my pen in a long looong time. I decided to at least come back with something different.

This technique was the reverse process of drawing with line art first. You start big then proceed with the small details. I realized while doing this how much I love drawing the small details so I'm not sure if I'm sticking with this style, but I still had fun and I definitely learned a lot 💖✨

I'll probably apply these techniques more on painting landscapes in the future.
