When the gods were young, a child was bitten by a fey spider, and as fate foretold the forest grew over all.

James woke up with a horrible pain, a splitting headache was the first thing he noted. Next was the horrible shrill sound in his ears like a small screaming animal his head. He groaned as he pushed himself up tears flowing freely. He sobbed for a while in the dark cavern on his hands and knees trying to remember what happened as he feel his whole body seem to distract him with the sharp pain as if a million blades were piercing his back.
The memory was a sharp, crisp and clear in his mind as he remembered why he was there after a long while of adjusting to the pain. The old Captain Robert Deadless had asked him to follow him as the other pirates hid his treasure. He of course followed and the captain showed him a dark crack inside skull rock and told a wild tale.
He had heard tales from many pirates that they were far too afraid of skull rock because of the beast that lurked within the cavern. James thought this was silly but his mother told him she made friends with mermaids. He had met many pirates who said they saw a giant monster swallow ships. He didn't really care to find out. They could all be hollow lies for all he knew. The old captain then told him that James wasn't a very good pirate. he was to soft, to breakable, to manipulatable and to unwilling to kill and pillage. He put a firm hand on James shoulder as he lamented the promise he made to his James mother to take him under his wing.
James felt a feeling of shame as he said these things. Would his mother really be proud of him if he wasn't a good pirate? “Then again.. backstabbing is expected amongst pirates. No hard feeling eh James?” He said before James could process the words the hand on his shoulder was suddenly on his throat and when it let go he was falling. Before he could scream his back hit a rock and he rolled painfully down a slope into a dark cavern getting knocked out by another rock hitting his head.
He felt around and soon found the cave wall. He used it to steady himself as he got up. pushing his long dark hair out of his face feeling a warm sticky liquid on his face. After what felt like ages of searching in the dark he fell once again though this time into water, a current was trying to pull him under. He was far too tired to fight it. he soon passed out again and found himself somehow washed up in a shallow lagoon. After coughing up some water he felt his face, and when he looked at his hand again it was covered in blood. he tried to push himself up onto land only for a hand to grab his leg trying to pull him back down. He kicked it off him and that seemed to be enough for the hand to let go as he scrambled onto the sand adrenaline and fear giving him a new boost of energy.
He could've sworn he heard giggling at the time but he wasn't sticking around to find out who was giggling. He ran through the forest tripping on a skull. Looking at it a bit closer he slowly felt the sense of urgency leave him. If he was going to die, he may as well do it with dignity. He took some deep breaths and began to hum an old sea shanty. He reflected on what the captain told him before he tried to kill him. Too soft, he felt a twinge of hatred for the captain. If he were to survive this island, he would show him whos soft. he held onto that rage as it felt better than the helplessness and fear.
Suddenly a pirate came through a bush with a sharp look in his eyes that quickly turned to an uneasiness once he saw the strange sight of a handsome young man covered in bruises, cuts and soaking wet with blood running down his face tapping a skull to the tune of drunken sailor with a murderous look in his eyes. James looked at the newcomer for a moment wondering if he was hallucinating. “Ahoy...have you come to kill me?” James asked in a casual tone. The pirate looked confused by his tone. “I came to see who was humming.” The pirate said his deep threatening voice not sounding familiar.
“Do you have the time? I have a tale to tell and Id rather not die of blood loss before it happens.” He said with a levity he didn't feel. “I’ll take you to our ship, you can tell the story there and maybe help us decide who will be captain.” The pirate said helping James to his feet causing him to wince a bit. James smiled at the pirate and nodded. Though it was hollow, James wouldn't make the same mistake twice. He didn't trust this pirate as far as he could throw him. Though James remained friendly it was all a hollow lie. Soon enough he became captain due to his wit and charm as well as his knowledge of where Deadless’s treasure lay. The story he told was far from the truth talking about the horrid monster who dissolved into seafoam as it died from his clever plan. Why should he share secrets? They would laugh if he told them about the horrible fear he felt in that cavern. The hollow lie would keep them loyal for now.
He soon got the revenge he wanted on old captain Deadless, He found it quite satisfying gutting him like a fish making him as hollow as his promises of fun and adventure, after forcing the crew to walk the plank or join him. The pirate who saved him named Yang was impressed by his spirit and cunning plans that always seemed to go off without a hitch. James built his reputation on mystery, having a history with a feared and respected pirate being found on a magic island slaying a monster. Soon enough though the fun ended. They did all the pillaging and plundering they could do on the never seas and wanted out. James knew the way out, his mother told him long ago about how she raised him in a place called London.
He didn't remember much of London beyond a sad hollow feeling and some fuzzy memories, he remembered seeing a man whos face escaped him hanged, children laughing at him, though once again their faces escaped him. He remembered what he had learned at Eton though even that memory was fuzzy. The faintest memory of a fancy bedroom, a piano a fire and screaming. Details always seemed to escape him. Neverland did funny things to your memory or perhaps he had been there for longer than even he knew. He smiled at the thought of burning London down and taking the riches for themselves. She told him the second star to the right led to it but you need to fly to get there. She even gave him a map of that other place telling him it was fun to explore it. He didn't remember it being fun. Then again he didn't have many fun memories.
She told him pixie dust was the only way she knew of besides being found. He didn't really know what being found meant, so the star was his new goal. Lucky for him he saw his ticket out sooner than later. She was radiant and polite but he knew better than to get attached. Even if he did like her and find her fascinating and beautiful and even fun. Even if he did regret betraying her down the line. It would be worth it, to be the worlds most feared and notorious pirate captain. To show them soft and breakable and easy to push around were words that described a man who died in that cavern long ago. Maybe once he finally did that his mother would be proud of him and that hollow feeling in his heart would finally be full again. “Are you ok James?” Zarina asked. James flinched and gave her his best charming smile. “Of course! Why wouldn't I be?” He said in a playful tone. She didn't smile back, she fluttered closer to him. “You’ve been looking off into the distance for a while.” She said worried. He sighed in a defeated manner. “I'm worried about you, are you sure you can do this alone?” He said lying through his teeth. Zarina smiled at him mischievously. “Ill get that blue dust just fine James.” she said. “I trust you.” He said though he knew it was another lie. She fluttered away leaving him alone again. “It'll be worth it.” He said to himself. Yet a small part of him knew it was a hollow lie.
Thinking about making some stickers! All about pretty fairy girls!!
Here's some sketches of the first few <3
Alright but Fairy AU idea I'm absolutely in love with: you know Thimbletack from Arthur Spiderwick? The one who starts off really sweet, but turns into a Literal gremlin when he's mad? I feel like that would fit Fae Sun/Moon to a T, only with it being the "Lights On" thing that's the main "No More Mr. Nice Guy" trigger.
Fairy Godmother anyone?

Natsu: Nah, it's of course cool I'll fight Erza again...
Natsu: BUT WHY IN A RUNES MAZE?!
Gray: Because you need to control your dumbass power and stop turning every town you step in upside down.
Natsu: But you too!
Gray: *shrugs* Did I say otherwise?
Natsu: Gah! Anyway who told you that about me?!
Lucy: *awkwardly* Well, he was telling that before...
Natsu: But how come you listen now?!
Gajeel: How do you still treat Council like this after me and Levy were in there? Arrested.
Erza: Anyway, Lahar is officially a member of Fairy Tail. Master accepted him and trusted him to train us. Like it or not, you gotta deal with that.
Gray: Look at Wendy, she practices and doesn't complain. Put your ass together too.
Natsu: Gah! It's still weird as hell!
Gray: So are you.
Natsu: WHAT DID YOU SAY?!
*Meanwhile in the training ground*
Wendy: *coming through an obstacle course made of Runes as well, passes successfully, but trips just near the finish line*
Lahar: Good work Wendy. *gives her a hand*
Wendy: *stands up with his help* I still tripped at the end.
Lahar: It's still five less times than at your first attempt.
Wendy: So, one more time!
Carla: Take a break child.
Lahar: I agree.
Wendy: But!.. I gotta be better than that!
Carla: *headpats her* You will. But you will be even better if you rest enough. Believe in yourself, will you?
Carla: *gives Wendy a high five*
Wendy: *gives high five in return*
Wendy: *reaches her hand to Lahar to give him high five too, but stops herself, looks awkward*
Lahar: ? Anything wrong?
Carla: *to Wendy* Come on, you are just guild mates now. He is the same status as Natsu or Lucy to you. No reason to be shy, *quietly* I think he's happy to talk to you normally
Lahar: *smiles* Right.
Wendy: *looks thoughtful*
Wendy: *finally smiles, gives Lahar high five*
Lahar: *gives it in return*
*everyone looks happy*
Mest: *secretly watching*
*quietly* You are doing quite good. *sigh* I was wandering around your home for quite long... hope you will like it in mine.
