First one is a snapshot type Polaroid image. Had a nice vibe of Future Nostalgia. Couldnt capture the colors I wanted for it so I just did a bullshit backstory for why the lights are out like it's the Summer of 2026, Idaho and the rest of the United States are dealing with a fuck ton of climate change issues, and as a result there are a lot of blackouts.
Second one I just wanted to capture the Derek and Elliot as teenager looking as possible lolz

@stuckstucktrolls for the lines and shit see how I just kinda. Put them on the page. I can show progress pics when I get home but basically for the first one I did some scribble ass sketch, made sure the lines were closed, color dropped the fucker, then added a shit ton of shading, focusing mostly on color and vibes instead of getting it accurate (I wanted a blue aqua sort of convenience store at one am vibe but couldn't quite. Summon that. So I just went with Lights Out aesthetic and then slapped on some backstory)
For the second one, I start with the eyes, then draw the face, then the guy, not really using reference or making it accurate, making adjustments as I go but never lining it, just sketching it like you'd have a pencil sketch in a notebook. I've learned to kinda detach myself from perfection probably coz I did a lot of traditional art until two years ago and then also coz I had a moment in time when I did only ink drawings (they looked like ass). Also for elliot on the right, if I were to color drop him, I'd have to close the lines on him like how theres a gap in his hair lines. Not sure if this helps? But basically just kinda letting go of having that perfectionism and learning to just feel it out
