@gamedebt    ` finally , i plead guilty of adoring you .

 blood spills from their beaten bodies , shouldn't have hit him that hard or should have hit him harder . no games could kill them , left in-ho for him and him for in-ho to kill at last , it was pathetic of them . he was praying before any of the games to die before this , to never witness his hand kill hwang in-ho . they've rolled in dirt and blood , rain washed his tears but didn't touch the blood . as if gods had fought , he knows the vips had so much fun watching them yet at last it's ye-jun that dives his blade onto in-ho's chest ( twice , more , more , with his own gut wrenching screams ) . in-ho's body heavy , falls onto the wet ground with their groans mixing loudly , ye-jun on top of him . ' just end this i just want this to end ' , water drops from his locks on in-ho's face . his trembling chest tenses , as a breathless sob leaves him . their animalistic growls were silenced and ye-jun gripped onto in-ho like he was the one dying . his name a prayer , an apology , BEGGING on ye-jun's tongue . the pink guard's gun points to in-ho's face wordlessly and ye-jun squeezes his lover's face in his chest to shield it from the attack . for some reason the guard glances at the camera located upward , to the vips and lowers the guns as ye-jun's bloodied fingers tangles in in-ho's locks . rocking back and forth like a mad man .

 his voice is akin to a phantom that ye-jun thinks he's imagining it , but he's mumbling the words in his neck . the vibration of that wicked confession as life slowly slips from in-ho's fingers .  ❛ in-ho . . . ❜  blood oozes from frontman's lips down to his jaw , the lips that smile so fondly . ( a sunny day and sweat running down his neck , in-ho smiling so big ; they kiss , the grass under ye-jun's locks and in-ho's heart hammering against his ribs . nobody will find them here . . . ) ye-jun breathes out another sob .  ❛ don't go . . . i can't follow you in death . in-ho please . ❜  ' oh when will you stop following me around , ye-jun ? just grow up . '

 this genre of music is growing on him , at least something that reminds him of in-ho's relaxed face and that little tap of his fingers against a surface . jazz isn't what ye-jun likes , too slow and mellow for him , doesn't mix well with his impatience sometimes . there's an orange tree by in-ho's window and its scent is intoxicating ; or rather , ye-jun blames it for whatever's crossing his mind as their eyes clash when in-ho finally opens his eyes . his bed is warmed by a shy autumn sunlight , ye-jun lays on his stomach because he kept saying he was going to read the comic book he stole from jun-ho's bedroom , even with one of the earbuds in his ear . but at some point he was staring too longingly at in-ho's parted lips , mouthing the lyrics silently to himself , the lyrics ye-jun wasn't even listening to . somehow it's turned into their secret dates , ye-jun waiting to be invited inside and listening to music with in-ho . . . today he feels like crossing a line . his plump lips brush against the other boy's , and his eyes close . maybe if he doesn't open them it'll be a dream . another music spread through their nerves , a softer one , this one ye-jun almost likes . his lips parts and press down against in-ho's harder in a hesitant kiss ; mimicking whatever he saw in the movies lamely and clumsily . a ' pop ' that makes his cheeks redder , when he pulls away he was still staring at in-ho's lips .  ❛ i- i'm sorry - ❜

question  is  nearly  missed  on  jordan  as  she  slices  vegetables,  humming  along  softly  to  the  music  that  fills  the  kitchen.  it’s  the  end  of  a  long  week  and  while  most  people  would  take  the  weight  off  of  their  shoulders  and  venture  out  for  dinner,  she  finds  comfort  in  making  her  own.  maybe  it’s  the  glass  of  cabernet  she’s  sipping  on  as  she  chops  and  measures      —      maybe  it’s  the  warm  familiarity  of  evenings  spent  helping  her  mother  and  abuela  in  the  kitchen.  there’s  something  sentimental  to  her  in  making  a  meal,  now  more  than  ever,  because  she’s  no  longer  cooking  just  for  herself.  

blade  continues  to  slice  through  onion  as  she  considers  sae-byeok’s  question,  a  soft  smile  pulling  at  the  corner  of  her  lips.  it  seems  like  a  lifetime  ago,  she  felt  stuck.  trapped,  even      —      doomed  to  be  rooted  in  the  rotting  ground  of  her  past.  these  days,  things  are  better.  not  perfect,  but  she’s  learned  to  take  stock  of  the  positives  in  her  day-to-day:      she’s  got  a  kitchen  to  cook  in,  a  cat  who  waits  by  the  door  for  her  to  get  home  from  work  every  day,  a  go-to  cafe,  a  bike  to  ride  around  the  city  on  sunny  days,  a  beautiful  view  of  a  park  from  her  bedroom  window,  and  above  all  else?  someone  to  share  it  with.

maybe  that’s  why  it  takes  her  a  moment  to  say  something.    she  considers  joking  about  dreaming  of  stage  lights  beating  down  on  her  every  night,  a  full  house  roaring  with  applause  when  she  takes  her  bow  at  curtain  call,  her  name  lit  up  on  a  huge  marquee  at  the  winter  garden,  but  all  of  that  seems  out  of  place,  paling  in  comparison  to  the  truth.        ❛  this,  ❜        she  murmurs  after  a  moment,  smile  growing  as  she  sets  the  knife  down  and  reaches  for  that  glass  of  cabernet  to  take  a  small  sip.  when  her  eyes  find  sae-byeok  leaning  against  the  kitchen  island,  she  can’t  help  but  reach  a  hand  out  to  gently  take  her  own.        ❛  there’s  something  about  just...  the  peacefulness  of  being  in  a  space  with  everything  that  reminds  you  the  world  isn’t  so  terrible.  that  all  the  pain  and  the  struggle  was  worth  it.  ❜        a  necessary  evil,  she  heard  again  and  again  over  the  years.  bad  things  are  here  so  the  good  things  will  feel  even  better.  it’s  a  sentiment  she  always  hated  and  still  doesn’t  take  to  fondly,  but  she’d  be  lying  if  she  didn’t  see  a  little  bit  of  truth  in  it,  right  now,  in  this  home  of  her  own,  hand  in  sae-byeok’s.  she’ll  lean  in  to  kiss  the  other  softly  on  the  cheek,  lingering  for  a  moment,  smile  still  demure  when  she  pulls  away.  

❛  that,  and  sometimes  josh  groban  is  chasing  me  down  the  street  in  a  banana  suit,  but  that’s  more  write  that  down  in  the  sleep  journal  dreaming,  ❜        she  adds,  barely  suppressing  a  laugh  in  the  process.

HER BODY FEELS SO COLD. it’s past the point of pain, has been for a while now. sae-byeok is nearly numb to it, and every movement feels like trying to swim across the tumen river after first frost; bitter and waterlogged, like simply raising her head is being met with resistance. it’s easier to just fall into it, let herself sink into the blood-soaked mattress beneath her.

the world slips away and she’s floating under the surface, drifting into dark depths below. there is still light above her, if she could only reach it.

wait, she can’t die!! not yet! not yet! he still hasn’t promised—!!

❝i’m not going anywhere without you.❞

someone has said this to her before, a long time ago. she’s too far away from her body now for this moment to feel like anything but a memory. and that’s what sae-byeok thinks it is when she starts to open her eyes a bit, just an old memory playing out in these last few minutes because a man is reaching for her with a gentleness that only one man ever has. it has to be a memory because that man is dead, reduced to a corpse floating down the river and nothing left of him but his words ringing in her ears. 

and then the man sweeps at her bangs like he’s trying to wipe away the sweat that’s matted them to her forehead. that’s when the gesture confuses her. well, maybe not the gesture itself but the physicality of it. the realness of it. then maybe this isn’t a memory, and this isn’t that man. that’s got to be it, right? 

besides, her father would never let his hair get so shaggy, and the accent is all wrong.

there’s a choked, shuddering gasp that escapes from sae-byeok’s throat, like she’s trying to swallow down her own death rattle. she comes back to the world, the sharpness of it contrasting with the hazy delirium of what must have been a dream. gi-hun’s kind face comes swimming into view and it is cut with concern, determination. sae-byeok remembers where she is and the things she still needs to do.

of course she’d be thinking of her father now. her family has always walked a trail of unkept promises. she’ll be adding her own to the path soon. still, she wants to believe in this one.

gi-hun holds her, grips her so hard like he thinks it’ll keep her spirit from slipping away. sae-byeok wishes he knew a lost cause when he saw one. the fact that he’s trying so hard just makes it hurt more.

“mister—” she starts to say, but stops. not because of the pain, but because the word feels wrong. there isn’t that kind of distance between them anymore. 

“samchon,” she tries again. this is closer, but still not quite right. “please. my brother— i have to hear you promise.”

What favor was that? Gemma did not need someone to help her out from a young age Gemma learned that she needed to fend for herself. No one was going to swoop in and give her what she needed. Or, if they did, there was a price to pay. Nothing was ever free. “What is this favor you t h i n k you are doing for me? Because I do not know who the fuck you are, and that I asked for any favors. Most people owe me favors.” Eyes narrow, watching the Frontman closely “and you better be honest with me.”

Of course, here we go. He's going to go on some fucking speech about how teamwork will save the fucking day. Isn’t he? Sighing, she crossed her arms and shook her head. Since when did she agree to work in a team? Especially in a situation like this. Shaking her head, she stepped back. “I don’t know who the hell told you that we…” hands motion between the two of them, “are a team. But I don’t work with teams. They never work for me. Or the rest of the team. Besides, I'm not only surviving so you can survive. You can save yourself. You don’t n e e d me.”

Narrowed brown eyes glanced up at the man he stood over her. Most people did. Whatever he thought he was going to get from her, he was dead wrong. "Cute..." the woman mutters to him. When had she ever begged or asked for help? Yes, most people in her position did ask for help or mercy. But, Gemma had no one to call to or anyone to care. So, she endured hell. She took it all in stride, sometimes even making it look easy. A grin slowly came to her busted lips, “you think I give a fuck if someone comes to help me? You're right. No one is coming to save me. I am not a damsel in distress or need saving. I've known that for a while. So, if you are going to fucking kill me, do it now. Or give me the fucking gun, and we can fight like adults.” This whole ‘game’ has become annoying, “unless you think you can make me suffer. Because right now, this isn’t very compelling.”  

        for once, her father was right: hell is real, and it eats itself alive in this room.

          the lights pulse without any rhythm, blinking in and out only to reveal a new scene at its feet, gorier than the one before. 315 has his hands wrapped around a woman’s throat; another player lays in a pool of his own vomit, frothing at the mouth; ji-yeong almost slips on someone else’s blood as she crouches behind a bunk, her sweaty hands sliding against the bars. it reeks of desperation, of piss and filth, screams followed by silence followed by screams again swallowing every body in the bunker.

           ji-yeong’s never been a fighter. even at seventeen, the day she held two lives in her hands, she knew this to be true. she hid and ran and held her breath until she blurred into the background, always there but never a focus, just as she is now. it kept her out of trouble; it kept her alive. she’s not sure whether that makes her a survivor or a coward, but at the very least there’s this: in this game they’ve all created for themselves, lives splitting between the dark and the light, she’s certain she will win.

          a woman shrieks from afar, swinging a loose piece of metal at another man’s head; he crumples to the ground just as she’s pulled backwards by her hair. death becomes an opportunity: ji-yeong weaves out from behind the mattress, spotting a corner at the far edge of the room littered with bodies. an idea hatches as she scrambles to her feet: if she coats herself in blood— if she can just get to the other side— 

          a man grabs the collar of another, shoving him back so they break the gap between where ji-yeong stands and where she’s heading next. to her disbelief, she recognizes them. 231 was a lackey for 101, the gangster who had started this all; the other was 456, the very last player and the first who had voted for them to go home — whatever that was — after red light, green light. she wasn’t surprised to see him back ( after all, she returned, too ), but she is surprised to see he’s somehow wandered from the pack he had clung to since the second game. being alone works better for her; for him, it pulls at his skin and exposes the soft shell of vulnerability underneath. he stands frozen in place, limbs locked in fear, head snapping in each direction in search of— what, protection? safety? the naivety of it almost makes her laugh. carnage never ended behind a closed door. there wasn’t a safe place in this whole damn world.

          but it’s then another flinch of light exposes a broken bottle in the other player’s hand, glass teeth cracked in excitement, and before she can stop herself ji-yeong flings herself behind the unsuspecting man, clamping her hand over his mouth and lurching them backwards.

          she doesn’t know what makes her do it, and if they both manage to make it out alive, she hopes he doesn’t ask. in the moment she can pretend it’s self-preservation. with them blocking her way, there was more of a chance that someone would come around to turn their eyes on her. but deep down, a swarm of thoughts crawl up her throat; the unfairness of that sort of death— the way the man had stooped over him even as they stood face-to-face— how the crimson bottle resembled a knife drenched in moonlight—

          a memory rams against her skull, trying to break free. yeah, right, she muses, like i’m gonna let you kill me here.

          ji-yeong pulls them back behind the bed, nearly tripping over her feet, shoulder slamming into steel with a gritted, “shit”. 456 expectedly thrashes in her grip, fists and fingers attempting to swat at her face. “hey,” she snaps in his ear, trying to pin his arms down with her free one in order to avoid the attention of the other man, “hey! i’m trying to save you, babo. you wanna live or not?”

 again , he had to make everything harder . everything had to be a war with him ; when he storms inside the penthouse in silence in the dead of the night and slams a case down his large glass table he knew the sun wasn't going to come up as soon as he'd like it to . it starts with him nagging about a mistake then stretches on about the possibility of him getting caught , as ye-jun calmly goes through the papers and photos of himself taken in places he definitely shouldn't have been , in-ho makes the unnecessary effort to remind himself the essential rule of the salesmen and their termination protocol . pair of elegant fingers hold a photo between them as he bends forward slightly to put the papers down , not a word spoken since in-ho arrived as the man angrily walks around the table to stand in front of him . tongue sharp , hissing , angered beyond compare . because he was going to d i e ? it's just unnecessary , it's making him roll his eyes which anger him more ; the moment in-ho's cold fingers try to claw at his jaw to force their gazes to lock ye-jun flashes him a sarcastic smile . ' yes , i am listening . ' but it also suggested something else apparently .

 loose locks bounce with the force of his slap , the sound echoes against the walls , his palm stings , in-ho's face stays turned . and ye-jun stares with the same calmness he's mustered and held ever since the man came here . eventually though , the startled man turns to face him . and ye-jun stares back , raises his brows very slowly and waits for the action to settle into in-ho's conscious , lets it pierce him . then , the smile widens . a sight his costumers had seen a several times during the game of ddakji or when they felt dizzy and lightheaded after it . charming in a way , lock of his slightly curly hair tickling his forehead .  ❛ . . . calm down . ❜  red blooms across in-ho's cheek , the same color that probably paints ye-jun's palm now .

"Sunnyside Maids!" The redhead stepped inside the house, greeted to the sweet sounds of jazz music playing in the background. Since being brought back to life and learning to adjust into the modern era, Hughanna decided to try and find work. And with very little working skills, the only job she could get was a maid. It was not the most exciting job, but it was something. Taking off her shoes, she started at the kitchen; gathering up garbage and cleaned the dirty dishes. Her fellow co-workers complained about cleaning homes, but Hughanna did not mind. She rather enjoyed cleaning, it was a fun past time for her. Once she was finished in the kitchen, she proceeded to clean the living room and moved up stairs. Hughanna could help herself but be curious on who lived here. With such a beautiful home, she wondered if he was a successful business man, or perhaps an actor. Humming quietly to the song playing in the background, stepping into his bedroom. Opening the curtains, she made his bed, dusting his dresser and vaccumed the floors. She was almost done, but wanted to make sure each room was cleaned before she left. And did not want to recieve a complaint through her boss when she returned to the head office. As she finished his bedroom, she noticed she had missed his office. The door was half way open, and as she popped her head inside she noticed the owner was not inside. Shrugging, she walked inside the small space and began to clean; wiping and dusting his desk and vaccumed the floors. Hughanna noticed a strange black mask on display. It seemed to be of valuable to the house owner, thus Hughanna promised herself to clean it with care. She lifted a finger, as the mask slowly floated above the stand, and floated towards her. She lifted another finger as the cleaning spray bottle and a clean cloth floated above the ground, moving towards the mask. A few quick sprays and the cloth began carefully cleaning the mask. Suddenly, Hughanna caught a glimpse of the man standing by the door way, gasping in surprise. As the mask gently dropped onto the ground. "I-I-I'm sorry...I didn't mean to...drop your mask. I, uh - hope you don't mind...that I cleaned your office..." She stammered her words, bright eyes shifting between him and the mask before picking it up and carefully placed it back on the stand.

people   can   be   so   loud   at   times.   why   anyone   would   want   to   bring   so   much   attention   to   themselves   is   beyond   her   ,   especially   in   a   situation   as   dangerous   as   theirs.   this   woman's   loud   voice   is   the   equivalent   to   nails   on   a   chalkboard   &   it's   only   made   worse   with   the   second   game   ending   just   moments   ago   ,   the   death   of   so   many   others   still   fresh   in   her   mind.   mako   should   keep   to   herself   &   ignore   what   was   happening   ,   but   a   part   of   her   mind   wouldn't   rest   until   she   tried   to   do   something   about   it.   ❝   must   you   be   so   loud   ?   ❞   sitting   up   on   the   bed   ,   she   looks   directly   at   the   older   woman   ,   completely unamused.   ❝   it's   late   .   .   .   everyone   is   trying   to   rest.   ❞

 their ranks still remain matched and truth to be told he'd prefer a masked psycho as frontman instead of seong gi-hun that had a grudge growing inside him and festering , growing until it's made him into something wicked . was it money or blood that transformed him into this , he didn't know but he's glad the edges were sharper . yet the man refused to look at him the second they saw each other , salesman has to follow him around like a puppy and repeat the reports of the paperwork in the halls and when gi-hun continued to ignore him , a hand reaches out to touch him on the shoulder . apparently deemed as a mistake ; for as soon it's done his back is slammed against the wall and gi-hun's shiny gun is pressed under his chin . a soft click of the weapon breaks the silence , cold metal against his warm skin , a familiar position to their first meeting . salesman looks just as startled , his parted lips close and open a few times before he glances at the man's tattooed neck . a joke , definitely will make it better .  ❛ . . . i'm guessing it's not a lighter this time . ❜

     𝐒𝐈𝐋𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄 𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐄𝐑𝐄𝐃 𝐈𝐍  the empty bathroom, embracing the silence to calm pulsing nerves.  these games were the opposite of what he expected; all he supposed of the games, when showing interest from the call, was one of those simple competition game shows that were broadcast on television — yet he was driven back by the desperation for the won that lingered over their heads.  it reminded him that he was in despair for discovering the truth.  winning these games could gain him the advantage of affording a proper investigation; his mother, and father, murdered in cold blood, the killer on the loose within the streets of seoul.  𝐃𝐈𝐒𝐆𝐔𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆.

                   he picks up the phone, expecting lawrence to be on the other end of the line. he was due to land, and they had an agreement that the salesman would make contact as soon as he was able. holding the mint receiver up to the fabric of his hood, he listened to the other man speak with little interest. ‘ i received your file, ’ in-ho confirms, voice is distorted, but crystal clear. he’d looked through the email, long and mind melting. in-ho had little to do with the games in america, but he wasn’t surprised something had gone awry. very little surprised him, these days. ‘ as soon as you arrive on the island, we can discuss it further, ’ @gamedebt

“Yeah, of course. I just wanted to confirm, that’s all! I’ll see you on the island.”

The call was short but he needed it to happen, just to confirm that he would be listened to. The idiots back at the American branch hadn’t listened to him much and now look what became of them. They should have just taken Devon out when he told them to…

After a surprisingly pleasant boat ride, in which Lawrence guzzled several more cans of coffee, he arrived at the Frontman’s office, flanked by a circle masked guard.

“So nice to meet you in person! Your mask is far nicer than the Frontman from my branch wore! Well…not that he can take it off now, considering he’s not only dead but the mask is fused to his face…”
