It happens to me every. Single. Time. This isn't even the first time I've made a post like that it's mentally exhausting.

So ive been stalking your blog all day, and I just took a 2hr nap before work and dreamed that I was in a deer stand with Lloyd and he was watching for deer, with a rifle in one hand and fingering me with the other. I kept moaning real loud and he just said.

“Baby shut up, you’re scaring all the deer away.”

While he continued to finger me without skipping a beat. I woke up to my alarm right at I heard a gunshot and him go “woooh!”

ever since i was a kid i wanted to be a teacher but every attempt i ever had to work for that was squashed by "i dont want to be shot". i still want to work with kids but i dont want to be shot. i work at walmart and i dont want to be shot.

I’m so sad and upset right now

I cannot even begin to comprehend how parents in the USA can send their children to school (a place that is meant to be safe for them) knowing in this year alone (FIVE MONTHS) there has been 215 mass shootings, twenty-six of these being school shootings.

It took one school shooting (the Dunblane massacre in Scotland) for citizens of the UK to give up their fire arms, and this heinous event has never repeated.

How many more innocent lives have to be lost until the USA decides enough blood has been spilt on a completely avoidable phenomenon.

This is not nature. We do not pray and hope it never happens again. This was not a volcanic eruption, or a tsunami. This was a person with a gun; a gun that was so easily accessible that innocent children have passed and families are mourning. We do not pray for the avoidance of reoccurrence. We act and enact.

Are the lives of innocent children really less important then your right to bare arms?

Do better. Do something.

My brothers last day of school before summer was today, and when I wasn't working, I was worrying about him. Enough is enough.

Okay, I hate talking politics, I hate expressing my opinions on things, but this is bullshit. There have been more mass shootings than days in the year in the United States. This has been an issue for decades and still absolutely nothing is being done to fix it.

I'm American-Canadian. I was born in the United States and I consider it my home. I will never, ever, return home, because I know that shit like this will continue to happen day, after day, after day. In Canada, you can't buy anything more than hunting rifles. Even then you have to have years of training in order to obtain your license, you have to have that license for months before you can legally purchase a weapon. In the United States you can buy it at your local grocery store. I am sick and tired of this bullshit.

I am absolutely not saying that Canada's gun laws are perfect, during my first month at high school we had two active shooters in the building and were on lockdown for two hours each. Halfway through the year we were all sent home for a week after several bomb threats. But that total is three. Three times has my school gone into shutdown the full 4 years I attended. In the United States, there have been more mass shootings than days in the goddamn year. Sandy Hook happened 10 years ago and no change whatsoever has been put into place.

Often from my American family I hear arguments about how it's in the constitution, about how it's better to have one and not need one than it is to need one and not have one. You know when you won't need one? WHEN THERE ISNT A GUN IN YOUR FUCKING FACE! If unqualified Americans cannot have guns, than there is barely any situation you will ever need one. Guns absolutely do kill people, they are made for no purpose other than to injure and to kill. Why the hell is it even a debate? What on earth would you ever need a gun for other than to defend yourself? Is a gun ever used for good? Even police officers use them as intimidation instead of actively shooting people. Guns were there at that school, police were there at that school, and all any of their guns did was kill children. Shape the hell up America.

In light of the recent school shooting I have been reminded that I remember Sandy from when I was probably 9 I remember the day after and all of us were scared I had friends in 3rd grade that brought knifes to school in case the same thing happened to us I remember being on edge that entire day afraid that someone was about to come in at any moment and try to kill us for no reason I remember that being the first time I learned that I was not safe at fucking school. I was only 9. I never forgot that lesson. Now I’m in college and nothing has changed. My entire school experience has been periodical reminders that I was not safe. Shooting after shooting after shooting elementary school through college it is never safe. In high school I had an escape plan for almost every class. I have never felt safe and that sentiment is shared by most of Americans in my generation. We were taught at a very young age that we are not safe at school and nothing has ever changed. There are no laws are protecting us. 14 kids and 1 teacher. And all they get are thoughts and prayers. Not change, not gun control, nothing. I feel sick.

Its really weird to say this, but my father has another child whom Ive never met, who lives somewhere in texas and is the right age to have been the victim of that shooting.

Im not sure who in the family is even on speaking terms with my father. My grandmother didnt speak of him or his wife at all, doesnt have any pictures of his daughter at all in the house. Alternatively, there are a bajillion pictures of my cousins who are of a similar age, of me and my sister when we were young. My aunt didnt mention anything either, and Im SURE it wasnt to spare my feelings, because we dont spare feelings in this family. Likely, tho, its because HE isnt talking to any of US. which suits me just fine...

It does make me wonder, tho, if any of us know where he lives... and if his daughter okay?

its outrageous how its normalized to teach young kids in school that shootings are "normal". my 5 year old cousin is going to grow up thinking its "normal" for 14 kids to die in a school shooting. he is 5 years old. this doesn't happen in other countries, why are we okay with it happening in ours?

we've literally diluted the issue so much that everyone is now desensitized to it. we all think its normal - its not

Nothing like getting posts from Reddit assholes who sneer about how me pointing out how evil the right wing is in regards to gun control, claiming that “Everyone who disagrees with my policy positions is a bad person." Like if that's literally your first reaction to mass shootings, then you're not worth debating. Didn't help that I checked their past posts afterwards and it was full of the pro-gun, social registry bs.

There is NO "policy position" where a person's life is worth less than a fucking gun that can be debated on.

God, I just wish these guys would find themselves at the barrel end of the guns they love so much and be reduced to begging for their lives. See how much they love it when they're not the ones who gets to have a power fantasy.

The fact is that the cops and the school's armed guard did in fact engage the guy, and he still got into the school and killed those children. "The good guys with guns" didn't save anyone, because guns do not actually protect you from getting shot. There were people with guns here, on-site, and they couldn't save those kids.

I am so sick of people actively fighting to sell guns to criminals and children, and I'm equally sick of "oh this is a problem with mental illness". You know it's not, because I have yet to see a single person who blames mental illness for gun violence actually advocate for mental illness in the wake of shootings. You can't lie to my face and say that you care about mass shootings while doing exactly nothing to prevent them.

I know my blog isn't focused on political stuff often but this is really important and I haven't seen a whole lot of eyes on it at all.

The Louisiana Senate just passed a bill (a day after the Texas tradegy) that would make it so you don't need a concealed carry permit, similar to the one already present in Texas. This is in a state that already requires no training in order to have a concealed carry permit. This bill (HB 37) was proposed by the same man, Danny McCormick, that tried to make abortion a homicide in the state of Louisiana. Louisiana already is a trigger state, meaning that abortion would become illegal in the event of Roe v Wade being overturned, though women wouldn't be imprisoned unless this new legislation got approved. Danny McCormick and other Republican lawmakers in Louisiana are trying to endanger their citizens actively and modeling themselves after Texas.
