My Neighbor Totoro ( Tonari no Totoro) directed by Hayao Miyazaki
Studio Ghibli (1988)
It shouldn’t be a surprise that the message of a Hayao Miyazaki project from the 1970’s is “any technology created during or after the industrial revolution is better off being forgotten”, but here I am, surprised that the message of Future Boy Conan is that any technology created during or after the industrial revolution is better off being forgotten.
i hope i'm not overstepping, but i associate you with hinata shouyou!! you draw him beautifully and i believe we discussed kagehina once so i associate you with him doubly! also his hair is orange and he is so bright and your art style is pretty and warm and often bright so. it works!
noooo this is so cute omg 😭😭😭 i honestly surprised when people associate my art with such warmness and brightness so it's such a whiplash every time but i feel so honored so thank you 🌻💛✨
In the dub, this line is “I guess they can’t miss every time”, but the Japanese subtitles are somehow even funnier.

Just considering the irony that the animated Japanese adaptation of Howl's Moving Castle removed the canon, textual, isekai elements from the source material. Like, I can see why Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli make the creative choice, but from a superficial inspection, I find it extremely comedic. Isekai is such a prevalent trope/genre in Japanese media, that it's terribly amusing to see an 'anime' deliberately sidestep the trope when it's conveniently presented on a platter.
For what it's worth, I recommend both the book and the movie adaptation, so long as you go in with the knowledge that they're basically different genres, despite one inspiring the other.
