just imagining nobori's family. mom just getting constantly possessed
he approaches one day to his mom clearly possessed doing an evil monologue which he just interrupts to ask if the spirit is gonna join them for dinner.
This is just a normal day for him! It's okay. Dad will get home in an hour, and he'll exorcise mom again. There's really not that much the spirit can get up to in the meantime, not with his mom's Gourgeist keeping an eye on it. He's not really scared, since he knows both it and Drifloon will protect him if it tries anything, and he's not at any risk of getting possessed.
He just listens to the spirit talk of their evil goals like 'lmao. yeah sure' and then dad comes home and exorcises it. Mom apologizes for her behavior and they all go out for ice cream. He is not aware that this isn't a normal family situation.
It's been a little while since we put out one of these, so it's about time. If you haven't heard of or haven't gotten around to joining the fictionkind dreamwidth (link in the reblogs, or it won't show up in the tag), and you have any kind of fiction-related identity, I highly recommend it. We have a (light) vetting process--please read the post "readme.txt"--to keep the trolls out and have a zero tolerance policy for harassment.
Do you have a fictotype? Are you a fictive? Do you have a hearttype, a hearthome, a synpath? Do you have any kind of identity that connects to fiction in some way? Then you are "fictional enough," and you belong. We focus on writing about experiences, answering prompts, and trying to foster meaningful thought and conversation about identities in a community that is a little more friendly to discussion than Tumblr is. Fear not if you have a "problematic" identity or some less savory aspects of your identity that you wish to discuss--you are welcome here, and welcome to discuss such things under a properly tagged cut. We will not permit any kind of harassment over this.
It is intended as a safe, but thoughtful, space, allowing short posts, essays, poems, playlists, art, fanfiction, anything that ties into your fiction-based identity--with no "kin-for-fun" allowed to muddy the waters.
If you have any questions or struggles with Dreamwidth, please do not hesitate to ask or contact me for assistance.
I keep thinking that the d/p/pt ost is mediocre, but I really need to give it more of a chance by actually turning on the sound in my game

A question though, should it be an indicator that Pandora has something for me when the oceans in the trailer look *so much like what I always imagined my home looked like*? But I don't look like any of the Pandoran fauna shown?
So, here's my question for you: do you feel any similar traits to the Pandoran fauna we've seen (especially fairly unique things like queues, operculae, four eyes, six limbs, etc), or are there no close similarities at all? Do they feel Right to you as well as the world feeling Right, or is there no connection at all there?
If the former of either or both questions: you may want to consider that you might just be a Pandoran species that we haven't seen on-screen (yet). As I said in a previous reblog, I know at least one individual with that experience.
If the latter of either or both questions: you may want to look at the places that inspired the designs of Pandora's oceans - especially if there are certain parts of it that feel more right/important to you than others, like the mangrove-esque forest or the underwater environment. See if the real-world places that inspired the design hold any connection for you or any species that are more similar to you. Failing that, maybe look into ocean environments from similar fictional franchises that might fit the bill.
It may also be possible for this to be a hearthome that's not connected to your kintype at all - but I'm assuming when you say "what my home looked like" you mean your kintype's home environment, so there's an intrinsic connection, so that's probably not the case. But I'll throw it out there as a possibility anyway.
Hopefully that gives you a place to start?
HI I JUST SAW THE TRAILER FOR AVATAR WAY OF WATER AND HOLY SHIT HEARTHOME AHOY
YEAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH BOIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
IM SO EXCITED IVE REWATCHED THE TRAILER A TRULY SHAMEFUL AMOUNT OF TIMES
gripping my desk so tight theres blood clenching my jaw shaking n trying not to cry..... oh god pandora underwater its so blue i see it in my dreams
Can I just say, I genuinely love that the teaser trailer for Avatar 2 has barely come out and I’ve already seen like four different Pandora fictionfolk of various varieties post in the otherkin tag over the last couple days, where I’ve barely seen any of us in the past four and a half-ish years of my being active in the otherkin community. I predicted that the release of the sequel would result in a ton of Pandorans coming out of the woodwork and newly awakening, but I didn’t expect it to be this fast with this little new content. It’s nice.

Do you have any advice for distinguishing between "this setting is a hearthome" and "I'm kin with an original character who is very similar to me currently, in this setting"?
...I suppose technically it would be possible, and the two would be very similar, but honestly my thing here would be "which is the simpler explanation" and go with that.
I guess... there's no different-me-ness associated with Pandora, for me. I don't feel like anything about me should be different to fit into Pandora better, and in fact I laugh about the fact that if you dropped me into Pandora, even with an oxygen mask, I probably wouldn't last the week because I'm so hilariously ill-suited for that. My otherkinity is focused on me first, and my homesickness is a distant second, unless we count being flight-starved as homesickness. If my Pandora hearthome were linked to a very-similar-to-me kintype, I would expect there to be something about it actually linked to me and my body - but there isn't, it's entirely about the world and its environments, things external to myself.
(I guess there's the longing for tsaheylu? But that's, like... it's a more abstract longing, it's not the same distinct physical should-have feeling as I get when I try to fly or breathe fire. I don't know how to describe it, but it's distinctly Different.)
For me, there's also the fact that no one specific part of Pandora stands out to me as More Hearthome than the rest, nor one specific species that stands out as More Me; that's part of why I ended up deciding I don't seem to have an actual kintype from Pandora. But that's probably not as helpful if your hearthome is A Biome or A City instead of An Entire Planet.
But of course, that's just me. That's the best I've got for you, sorry.
I noticed the "despite never having lived there" bit of Hearthome, but what if you had a real Hearthome and then moved there?
I guess in theory, sure, but at that point it kind of just becomes your home. Like, I love the place I live now, in a similar way to how I love Pandora actually, but I wouldn't call it a hearthome because it's.. just my home. The idea of a hearthome is primarily a way to describe/explain "homesickness for a place you shouldn't be capable of being homesick for", at least to me.
I wouldn't, like, consider that an incorrect usage necessarily, because I guess it's not necessarily implied by "home" because not everybody has that sense of connection to the place they live, but it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me personally to call The Actual Place You Live And Consider Home a "hearthome" instead of just "home," if that makes sense?
On thinking on it a minute: Yeah, sure, I guess it fits, and I'd certainly accept it, but be aware I'm going to by default (ie until indicated otherwise) assume you don't currently live in your hearthome because that's what most people mean by the word.
wait a minute is there a difference between hearthomes and hearthic? /genq
Alterhuman art prompts day 5: Hearthome
Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is a game and location that I hold very dear to me, and while none of my kintypes relate to it, it's a place I have always seen as home for me.
I spent far too long on this piece for its quality. Do forgive me for its muddiness and odd coloration, I simply had to stop working on it. I likely should have used the time spent here on finishing other prompts to have a bit of a queue, but I'm not the wisest man all the time. I'm not strong with landscapes or colors, but I am glad I actually got it to a point I can call finished.
