The table squeaked as you passed the rag over its surface, wiping the little bits of sugar and splattered coffee. It was close to closing hours and it had been a good day. All the usual customers came by including the ones that were new to the town. The business and the hundreds of people coming in and out made your cafe buzz with life. Your phone buzzed in your apron, the vibration distracting you. Pulling it out, a text message flashed across the screen, making you smile almost immediately at what it entailed.
“Come home baby, the kids miss you…”
The thought of your little twins made your heart flutter. Their little doe eyes that took after their father.
“Jungkook, I'm at work for another hour. I’ll be home as soon as I can..”
you texted back. You love Jungkook, he has always been there for you and has been your best friend since you were kids and now he was the father of your children.
The hour passed by quick and the lights in the skies reflected onto the tables as the sun set. The red sun rays distributed unevenly creating unquiverling red paths across the skies, making contact with your inner spirit and overcoming it with a calming feeling. You felt at peace.
The little bell hanging by the door suddenly jingled, signifying someone had entered the cafe. You were so caught up in your daze that you had forgotten to flip the “open/closed” chart hanging on the see-through door.
“We are closed,” you commented, your eyes looking up to meet a sculptured and handsome face. You knew that face, moreover, you hated that face.
“Jin…”
“Y/N...”
The sudden emotions hit you like a deathly wave. All those things you had wanted to tell him when he broke your heart reappeared at the tip of your tongue.
“What are you doing here?” you ask in a sad but angry tone.
“I’m so sorry”
“So you knew? You knew what you did was wrong and you waited to apologize till now?” you shouted, having walked around the counter and stood in-front of him. You pushed him at every word that came out of your mouth, your tears streaming down your face.
“Baby I’m sorry, please forgive me. I still love you,” he whispered his voice breaking. He was hoping you would jump into his arms but deepest in him, he knew, he was never going to have you again.
Raising your hand, you flashed the back of it, the golden ring embracing your ring finger almost blinding him.
“I’m married Jin, and I have children. I waited for you for years but I had to move on. For my OWN sake.” you spat with hatred.
Jin bowed his head, and nodded afterwards. Not giving you much of a glance, he left.
Jin had become a world known model.
You and him were in a relationship but as soon as his career kicked in, he distancing himself from you. He didn't realise at first, but when he did, he was too scared to admit his own mistake. So he left the country without a word. He blocked your contacts and never spoke to you again.
You stood in the middle of the coffee shop, your eyes swollen and red as the tears stained your cheeks. As you watched Jin’s figure retreat you said, “you hurt me so much but…. I’m better now,” knowing Jin wouldn't hear it.
You closed the shop and entered your car. You wanted to go home. Tell the man you LOVED what had happened. The thought of his kisses, his comforting words and his warm hugs made you smile as your heart beat fast.
Indeed, you were better now.
