Rewrite magic types!
There are 4 types of true magic, Kingdom witchcraft(also called old witchcraft, or nature magic), witchcraft, holy magic(magic used by the gods or magic similar to what the gods use. Healing and barriers as an example), and magicks.
Kingdom witchcraft is the taking from the planet to make potions and elixirs. Very few animal or monster parts are used for KW. Kingdom witchcraft also makes use of catalysts, a magical or semi magical object used as focus for spells and rituals. Common catalysts are books, tomes, orbs, or crystals surrounded by metal.
Witchcraft draws from one’s will, imagination, and a few grounding pieces of earthen origin. Most witches have a wand or staff as a main grounding piece, they also often have familiars, spirits or animals that both enhance the witch’s magic with their presence but are also enhanced by the witch. Animal familiars are often far smarter than their wild counterparts. Spirit familiars are more ‘in tune’ with the world and can interact better with it. Familiars often are polar opposites in comparison with the witch they have befriended, that or their personalities compliment each other.
Holy magic is the most varied type of magic, and the most dangerous. It’s only limits are what the gods can do, and how much magic the wielder can handle. Holy magic is often called ‘dark magic’, although this is far from the truth. Healing, manipulating the elements, divination, and necromancy are a few of the sects of holy magic. Anything created by holy magic is also considered divine.
Magicks are the second most varied magic type. Those who wield magicks are experts in their craft. It is rare to see a magicks user who wields two types of completely different magic, far more common is a magicks user who wields complementary magic, or magic so similar that it bridges between separate kinds. The older a magicks user is the more specialized and powerful they are, having had more time to develop their magicks and find their limits.
