Nov 1st My 8 year old: I’m going to be on the nice list everyday!! Me: Do you want to know a secret about the nice list? 8 year old and 4 year old are bug eyed waiting in anticipation…. Me: Every child is on the nice list. Now they are jumping around celebrating lol Yelling “We are naughty list free!!” BTW we have never used the nice/naughty list paradigm to elicit certain behaviours at Christmas time. But many people in society and movies depict this paradigm. I have always struggled to explain in a way that aligns with our values but does not dispute the lists existence because that would be invalidating. This explanation has been a joy to watch. I hate seeing the anxiety they feel over behaviour at Christmas time. Try giving your child the gift of knowing all children are on the nice list.
