Rework Ideas (Ophelia)

I've an old character, both old in age and time of creation. I remember back where she was first made, I had great fun playing her! But every time I've tried since she doesn't seem to work very well.

Ophelia. The idea that made her interesting was that she is a very old vampire, hundreds, maybe about a thousand years of age, who got turned as a child. No, there were no weird ideas around this, and anyone who even SUGGESTED it got blocked. The same applies here.

I've been thinking of reworking her lately. Her backstory is fine, maybe a few changes here and there, but it's one of the most detailed I've written, so I'm still using it. I think it's more her personality that needs looking at. I'm just not sure where to take it.

I could make her sweet and kind, as her appearance may suggest. But that seems basic and honestly plays into that idea of making it weird. Still, the idea has crossed my mind to make her act like that. Maybe to lull people into a false sense of security? They go the help the poor, innocent sounding child, then got attacked?

One thing I do want to keep the same is her morals. She doesn't like hurting others, but she has no choice. And while she doesn't like harming people, she does like the taste of blood, and because of her young mind, she will sometimes let her bloodlust get the better of her.

Another thing was Ophelia would refer to everyone very formally. I played it to remind people of their different customs and the time she came from. And while she's had the chance to break this habit, she's chosen not to. Perhaps as a way to remember? I'm not sure...

I could make her cold and seemingly uncaring. It would make sense since the vast majority of people she's known have been extremely hateful due to her vampiric nature. And even before that, her childhood wasn't the best, as you could probably guess from the fact she got turned so young. Ophelia is actually a wood elf, but she had her ears forcibly clipped, so she looks human... well, other than the fangs and red eyes.

But that seems... uninspired.

I'll have to think about it for a while longer. I do hope to play her again and actually have her work somewhere. But I guess only time will tell!

I crave for you to tell me I'm wrong.

To tell me you like the sounds of spring just as much as the sights of fall.

Tell me both summer and winter are your favorites.

Either way we'll stay indifferent, stagnant in our cycle.

Even birds that fly south for the winter, fly north for the summer.

Historically Sinistra Academaie has served the leaders of each supernatural faction, but recently it's opened the door to any supernatural creature who's brave enough to attend it. And with it, the recent influx of common folk has disturbed the fine balance at the academy. These are young vampires, witches from brand new covens, wolves from long forgotten packs; they have a bright-eyed and careless demeanor that the old families want extinct, and it’s up to the current students at Sinistra to make sure that happens. sinistrahq will be a supernatural academy RP inspired by the themes and aesthetics of dark academia, Vampire Academy, Underworld, and some elements of Legacies. This roleplay will focus on the dark themes associated with the supernatural and dark academia genre, and is not intended for the light-hearted. The main conflict comes from the inter-species, thousand years long disputes and wars as well as the friction between creatures known as the Old Blood and the New Blood.
