If you're still taking prompts, I would love to see a combo of "confess" and "kiss" ^u^ (I am an extreme fluff enjoyer, so those prompts really stick out to me hgyfkbdmfdj)
-Send me a โConfessโ and Iโll write a drabble about one character confessing to the other -Send me a โKissโ and Iโll write a drabble about their first kiss
Hello @twicespicedskitty ! I hope you are doing well today! Here's some fluff for you! I kept the angst out! (๏ฝก๏ฝฅโ๏ฝฅ)๏พ๏พThis takes place after Hisui, and assumes that while they probably harbored feelings for each other for some time, neither of them confessed *before* Ingo was yeeted.
Emmet, his precious twin brother, should have had a line of suitors out the door of the station, all the way to their apartment.
While his own memories of their lives together had not fully returned, simply watching Emmet in action cemented that notion in his mind. His younger twin was passionate, skilled, and near-unbeatable in pokรฉmon battles. He treated their own pokรฉmon with kindness and seemingly limitless knowledge of their necessary care. Ingo found himself, more than once, considering which Lord or Lady Emmet would have been a Warden for, certain that his twin would have been the best Warden in all of Hisui.
Aside from all the important reasons why Emmet should have suitors, he was also extremely cute. The way he waved so energetically when he saw Ingo after spending a day separated on their respective trains always spread warmth in his chest. Emmet's joyful laugh made his heartbeat so loud he was certain anyone near them could hear. Although he was nearing his fifties, he felt like a school boy with his first crush, tugging the brim of his hat down to cover his eyes in hopes of hiding at least some of his blush.
It took about a week for him to regain enough memories to know with absolute certainty that he and Emmet had been incredibly close before his disappearance. Travelling everywhere together, spending as much of their life together as was possible, they were near inseparable. However, despite inspecting every memory he could, he found no sign that they had closed that final inch between them.
After some additional careful consideration, he knew that he had felt this way for Emmet before, too. It was uncertain how much he had yearned back then, with how inseparable they were, but the loss had reverberated loudly in his heart all through his time in Hisui. He longed for the person he could only half remember, a smile lodged in his heart causing pain-tinged comfort, a desperation to know who held his heart so solidly.
When he returned, enveloped tightly in Emmet's arms with his twin whispering a chant of "I missed you," he knew he couldn't live as he had in Hisui ever again. Holding Emmet's face in his hands, his twin's smile absolutely messy with his waterfall of tears, he'd pressed a kiss to his forehead, apologizing for having ever left his side.
In the time he spent watching his twin, the expectation that a suitor would appear betrayed itself. Emmet made no reference to anyone he may have been seeing, and no one stood out in particular as trying to gain his twin's attention. His twin had spent the entirety of his disappearance searching for him, so no one had been there for him during that time either. He felt himself growing impatient, and decided that enough good will had been allowed for anyone else to attempt to win his twin's heart.
Knowing that he wanted to confess when it would not distract from their work, he planned his confession for the next day Emmet was off. He unfortunately still had a short shift, but it was one that got him home by the time Emmet would wake up. They would still have the entirety of the day together, and he wouldn't feel guilty for trying to rush the confession during a lunch break. It was private, quiet, and just for them. Emmet's reaction would be only for him to see.
The night prior, he asked Emmet to set his alarm for when he was expecting to arrive home. Emmet had teased him just a little, insisting that Ingo was a better alarm than anything he could set. Surely his twin meant Ingo's ability to tug his twin out of bed no matter how much he made himself dead weight, and not anything else. He'd agreed at the time, reminding Emmet that Garbador would eat his blanket if he proved to be particularly stubborn. Emmet had laughed and set his alarm, and they said their goodnights.
Morning shifts were often hectic things, ensuring passengers who very stubbornly wished to fit in already full cars got to their destinations on time. But, it had gone quickly; Ramses had improved greatly in the time he had been gone, and handled himself expertly during the rushes. Wanting to get home to Emmet as quickly as possible, he had not lingered after as he sometimes did, only briefly thanking the employees for their work before leaving. The only stop he made on the way home was to pick up his preparation for his confession.
Stepping into their apartment just as Emmet came out of his room, his breath caught at the sight. His twin was lit by the sunlight from his window streaming out the doorway. Even in such lighting, Emmet's smile was brighter, and encouragement welled up in his heart. If everything went well, he could see this scene, and more, for the rest of his life. Emmet could smile at him so wonderfully every day, sharing every moment with him.
"Good morning, Ingo!" Emmet waved, still in his t-shirt and shorts he used as sleepwear. He stretched one arm up over his head, a yawn barely covered by his other hand. A hint of midriff distracted him just momentarily. Ahem. He needed to focus. "Got up just in time."
"Good morning, Emmet!" he said with equal, if not greater, enthusiasm. His twin chuckled at the volume of his voice, a loudness he didn't remember ever truly utilizing in Hisui. Although he liked to think he gave very enthusiastic encouragements while there, he noticed his own voice was livelier here, gaining a spark he'd apparently been missing.
Emmet wandered into the bathroom, still obviously sleepy. Caught in his own mental motivations, he stayed in the doorway until Emmet reappeared. Hair neatened and face fresh, he tilted his head before approaching Ingo. "What're you doing?" his twin asked with a chuckle, clasping his hands behind his back as he leaned towards him. "You gonna come in?"
Instead of words, he took his own hand from behind his back and held out what it contained to Emmet. Surprised, his twin took the two pink peonies tied together with white and black silk ribbons, eyes widening just slightly and his cheeks beginning to dust the same color as the flowers. "W-What's this?"
Taking off his hat, and holding it to his chest, just over his heart, he cleared his throat before he spoke. "Emmet, I am not sure why I ever hesitated in the past, but I've decided that I will no longer hold back."
As he spoke, Emmet's fingers played with the ribbons, nervously wrapping and unwrapping them around his fingers, all while never breaking eye contact. Reaching out for Emmet's hand with the one not holding his hat, his twin untangled his fingers from the ribbons and placed it lightly in Ingo's grip. "Nii-san?" If he stopped to analyze the emotions in Emmet's voice, he was worried he wouldn't continue again, too caught in the softness held within. He had to take this to the final stop before he derailed.
"I have searched my memories and my heart and found only you. I love you, in all ways that conveys." Emmet blushed harder, the pink turning red, and he lifted the flowers to cover his mouth, peeking at him over the petals. "I want to spend my life with you, and only you. Nothing can ever compare to how I feel about you."
He would have continued, telling Emmet all the ways that he felt complete because of his presence, how much he'd missed him even without memories. There was so much he could say about Emmet's place in his life, a hole that had ached so badly when they were apart. He would have, if Emmet hadn't stopped him by pressing against him in a kiss, hat and flowers trapped between them.
Releasing the hat, he wrapped an arm around Emmet's waist, and he felt Emmet do the same with one of his own. Breaking the kiss but not moving apart, Emmet tucked his head under his chin, obviously still flustered. "Wh. When did you get so romantic?"
Holding Emmet tighter, letting out a chuckle as he pressed his cheek to the top of his twin's hair. "I had a lot of time to think about you." Emmet tried to burrow further into his shoulder, making the sweetest flustered sound. "If you'll forgive me for leaving you alone so long, I'd like to give you the happiest life I can."
Emmet couldn't manage more than a nodding against his shoulder, grip tightening. The flowers shifted slightly, sticking out close to Emmet's cheek. Unlike Ingo's hat, he hadn't let go of them. And just like the flowers, he would never let go of Emmet again.
