okay...
so I’ve had this no till revelation and my mental map of my garden just like TRIPLED??! I had already planned for a pumpkin patch and possibly watermelon, in addition to the staples—tomatoes, peppers, zucchini, eggplant, cucumbers, herbs etc (what am I missing??)
👀 and then I was like I CAN DO CORN
but y’all
corn is wind pollinated -- it needs to be planted in blocks -- rows and rows, so that it will pollinate correctly, so corn is not a small undertaking
I already have my small community garden plot here
and this new garden is already a huge undertaking -- it’s far less impossible now that I don’t need to till. but jfc someone stop me 😂 don’t let me do corn this year. I mean, encourage a massive garlic crop, because THAT is happening for sure (it’s planted in the fall and harvested the following summer). but I should probably draw the line at corn
I may also need to invest in drip irrigation
(excuse me a moment, I’m just thinking about all the squash flowers I’ll get to eat this year... not sure which emoji captures my stupid little smile, but I’m happyyyy)
okay so. corn. someone convince me that corn is a NEXT YEAR PROJECT
even though I have some really pretty corn I could plant
god damn it, it’s so pretty
I also have a packet of blue corn
why do I have this
SOMEBODY STOP ME
I can do watermelon this year, and a few winter squashes, and this weird little buddy, and... what else. give me ideas that aren’t corn lol
