i legitimately don’t understand lexi haters especially ppl who are pro salvatore like. lexi as a character only exists to prop the salvatore bros up and advance their journeys, and y’all hate her for “always butting in” in what isn’t her business when... she does nothing but help your favorite character? and i mean literally nothing else because she has no agency or background or life outside guiding the salvabros

I write non con to cope yes, but I actually don't portray it as something positive. It's a terrible experience and the characters get comforted afterwards, maybe eventually recovering.

I don't write it for any kink reason, I don't get off it (I am ace, sex repulsed), but apparently it is terrible enough that I "make my characters suffer", so shame on me?

But that is my way to cope.

it just goes to show that it doesn't really matter your intention on how someone portrays rape, whether as a kink piece, a power reclamation piece or as an exploration: we will still be attacked. we'll still be blamed for the actions of our monsters because victim blaming is that insidious in society, we have to have earned this or deserved it in some way.

Friendly reminder that there’s a difference between fiction and reality and that what you ship doesn’t define you as a person nor does it harm anyone.

Most people are actually attracted to non consenting partys(ie, their attracted to people before they have consented) it’s just that that attraction has been normalized. We don’t demand people stop being attracted to people before they’ve consented, Because attraction isn’t something someone can control.

Acting on attraction to someone before they’ve consented would be abuse. But that attraction isn’t inherently wrong or abusive.

We need to treat non-consenting paraphilas the same way. People aren’t monsters for having attraction.

this is an especially important distinction among traumatized people, because sometimes you will be hurt by people who didn’t actually do anything wrong and it is not your place to treat them like they did something maliciously
