the romantic relationships in makoto shinkai movies are shallower than toilet paper. i’m convinced he’s never been in a relationship in his whole life. i doubt he’s known the love of a real woman. there’s more pathos and romance in the paper airplane scene in the wind rises than all of shinkai’s filmography put together.
