sarah snook as siobhan roy in succession
(season 2 episode 4, safe room)
Hey guys! Jsyk, i added a bunch of succession stuff to my redbubble
“You'll always be like a nightmare to me And I'm always begging for sleep“
idk i just don't think a man approaching 40 would know what bpd is let alone joke about having it unless it's something he was tested for and/or diagnosed just A thot
I'm rewatching Retired Janitors of Idaho and:
* The only time that Logan has explicitly accepted Tom into the family was when he was having a delirium because of a uti. (Unless im remembering incorrectly, i have terrible memory).
* There's something so representative about the state of things in the world, in seeing a white man who's lost his mental capacity because of syphilis and another white man delirious because of a uti negotiating a company worth billions and the futures of their employees like it's a power game (getting the other one to bend for them) and not yk, a decision with very real and awful consequences.
* One of the moments that irks me the most about Shiv is when she tells Logan about the deal. "Oh, you don't mind me relaying the news, do you?" "He's my dad, so..." (This is for personal reasons lol not a take on the scene or whatever).
* Connor only now asking to be in the firm is so funny to my because he (I'm assuming he's a few years younger than alan ruck) is older than my mom and she's been retired for a number of years.
* Frank stayed in front of everyone talking and talking when Karl threw him out there, even after karl was seen by the shareholders. But when Gerri, from the side of the stage, hidden, asked him to do the same, he introduced her. This is one of the times that show her position is only administrative. Also obvi the misogyny of not listening and not taking directions from a woman even when she has the top job.
* I think Gerri's "visionary coo" wasn't only about saying sorry about the veto. It was a way to secure her position. She did choose her prince and what better way to show he's competent (and that she bet on the right horse) than her, the ceo, boosting his appearance to the shareholders.
* Greg just gives the vibes of a person that became a crypto bro because they got scammed into it (like most of them). He constantly makes bad decisions because it seems like the businessy thing to do. Like him accepting Mr. Pugh as his lawyer was so bad, like on so many levels.
*They should have weekend at bernied Logan onto the stage, they would have definitely lost the vote but it would have been hilarious.
*Roman's instincts in this ep are really bad. I think is because he is afraid about what's going on with Logan.
*I love the old guard's ability to talk so much and yet say nothing that compromises their position ~chef's kiss~.
*I can't stop laughing at the fact that we are to assume that between Gerri starting and finishing her speech, she talked about her 30 years at waystar. I wanna see a cut of the full speech and the bs she spun.
*Everyone passing the buck lol anyone can talk to the president as long as it isn't the first pancake.
*Shiv got the deal thanks to the driving force of ☆♡◇girl power◇♡☆
* "four seats no pjs" is the first time Gerri has to make a real decision, and it was actually Roman who voiced it (plausible deniability).
*Fuck Karl lmao ~insert amy brookheimer's rant about Mike being an earlobe~.
*"It'S nOT creEPy".
*Kendall really thought he did something huh. That sole and lonely clap really made this moment.
*Cyd needs more screentime.
*I feel so bad for Shiv, she's so transparent. Logan, and anyone really, was able to see her strategy about the seats.
*The only thing Logan didn't say was "Shut up, fuck off, the adults are talking." shivvy :/
*Roman is also pretty obvious about who is Logan's favorite now. His desperation for love is upsetting to see.
*I know that Logan's power moves have been made fun of as antiquated, but Kendall, knowing the handbook, walked right into that one.
And lastly, I have a question for succ fans, jsc is wearing a wig, right? Like through this journey I kept telling myself "that's a wig, right? It has to be a wig."
I think a lot of that perception of shiv is colored by her interactions w marcia in s1 since she's the only other major female player and they are always at odds. to me, though, marcia is really the instigator for a lot of that conflict. marcia calls her a spoiled slut and is condescending to and withholding info from shiv while logan is sick. Like, compare that to how marcia treats kendall - she's gone out of her way to be kind to him
You have people like Frank and Gerri and Karl and Karolina and Stewy and Hugo and any number of other characters who are all “playing the game”. I’m not saying that they’re all good, kind people outside of work, they probably aren’t, and their work is a big part of their life, anyway. But the Roys, specifically the golden trio, are ALWAYS PLAYING THE GAME. It’s not that they want to, it’s just that they never get a vacation from being a Roy. There’s little room for compartmentalizing; when Kendall goes to bed at night and is alone with his thoughts, he’s still KENDALL ROY, son of LOGAN ROY, and that shit is exhausting.
tom always asked shiv what was going to be happening to him when she was “moving up” in waystar. always kinda asking “what about me?” and she would always, always brush him off.
so tom decided to be the opposite for greg. he made sure greg had a job with ATN, dragging him along wherever Tom was going. Tom asked him to join him. He looked after Greg when his wife, his WIFE didn’t do the same for him. He loves Greg. He looks after and out for him. That’s beautiful.
in this one, SHIV is DOIN’ TIME. get it? puns? terminal tom? the audio?
