Review #16: MaoMao: Heroes Of Pure Heart
Score:9/10
When talking about abused shows due to the network they’re working with, this show needs to be discussed more among those stories. MaoMao follows a samurai cat named MaoMao, his apprentice Adorabat, and his cyborg best friend Badgerclops as they protect the secret village of Pure Heart Valley from villains and monsters. These characters work well with each other with MaoMao being tough but still has vulnerable weaknesses, Badgerclops being the soft but caring type that gets lazy sometimes, and Adorabat being a second main protagonist that fits right in with characters like Steven Universe or Luz from the Owl House. The animation is actually where the series shows a lot of strengths as this is an action show and all the fits are really smooth moving and well choreographed. The comedy also what dragged me in as like I said the characters often have diverse personalities that they often make the situations more funny and charming.
FreeMaoMao: All of these reasons would make this a really loved show except for the treatment from Cartoon Network. You see this show is probably up there with My Life as a Teenage Robot as being ignored by the parent network. The first few episodes were fine given a weekly release every now and then but then to get episodes 31-40 we had to wait 9 months to see them on small time slots and before we’re restricted to app exclusivity. And while season 2 has been announced in July 2020, it has been almost 2 years since we heard any news of anything MaoMao related that is inexcusable. And it’s a shame that this show was canned without any breathing room, the creator Parker Simmons and the crew at Titmouse worked so hard trying to make the best out this show and its a show that the modern day animation fans would enjoy like Adventure Time or Owl House and it’s not to late to stop this you can spread the word but make sure to be vocal but don’t harass anyone at CN.
It looks a bit funny when a minority can come to terms with the fact that they hardly ever have a representation, and if once in a creation, straight doesn't play the main role, suddenly it's bad
So yes, the minority is to come to terms with the fact that it is not always represented, but the majority cannot come to terms with the fact that it is omitted in some works
