Tarot cards were invented in Italy around the 14th century. Originally it was used for a game called Tarocchi. Which spread all across Europe and wasn't first used as a form of divination. The popularity of tarot as divination began around the late 16th century.
There are two main parts of a tarot deck, but five total parts. Major Arcana, Minor Arcana, and within the minor arcana, there are different suits. (Swords, Coins, Wands, and Cups) Which all represent the different elements. If we're thinking about the elements like the pentacle, the major arcana would sort of represent spirit.
Swords - Air Pentacles - Earth Wands - Fire Cups - Water Major Arcana - Spirit
The VERY beginning is going to be about the major arcana. So, what is the major arcana? The major arcana is 22 of 78 total cards. These main 22 hold a different theme and definitely hold a lot of energy.
Some believe that the major arcana represents a story of some sort, starting at The Fool - The beginning of an era/story/journey and ending with The World - The completion of an era/story/journey. Regardless, the major arcana is a big energy and will be the cards I will talk about in the second part!
