The Strange Case of the Alchemist’s Daughter by Theodora Goss
“Mary Jekyll, alone and penniless following her parents’ death, is curious about the secrets of her father’s mysterious past. One clue in particular hints that Edward Hyde, her father’s former friend and a murderer, may be nearby, and there is a reward for information leading to his capture…a reward that would solve all of her immediate financial woes.
But her hunt leads her to Hyde’s daughter,…
I thought this would be really good 🙈 Almost every book has a group of friends who become a family, what are your favorites?
Here's mine! (Not in a particular order):
Theodora's fam: Look at them 🥺 They found each other amidst the chaos~
Lale and friends™️: Noe and Sandra are still missing here, it's not complete without them (I'm still waiting for a picture of them all together, please). But it's a group of friends who don't need introductions.
Edit courtesy of @robintora 🥰 Amazing as always!
These cute nerds from LFOS~ Hope we can see more of their shenanigans soon 🥺
LOTW's gang! ~ They'll forever have a space in my heart 🥺 Just missing Shino-Odori, Satoshi and Hong here 🙈

‘What a fine burial shroud royalty is’ is such a raw line you wouldn’t think it comes from the same guy who wrote that a Roman emperor was a demon who could take his head off at night and killed a trillion people. But it does.
“Maybe by avoiding society, I deprived myself of something… something beautiful”
And here we go with dr John Roberts. He’s the typical cold-exterior-warm-interior man. It takes a while to see the latter though
I’m gonna say that I didn’t like him at first… but the the more time I spent with him, the more I was into him.
He’s a gifted doctor, a man that knows how to do his job and is able to heal people other people couldn’t heal. He’s also an artist that plays the piano beautifully. However he’s not really the kind of guy that enjoys the company of others… at least up until the moment he meets Theodora.
I love the way he starts opening up. Theo is not exactly subtle when interacting with him… and perhaps she gets a bit too close sometimes, he brushes her off at first, but then he starts letting her in.
Slow burn romance and subtle touches… for what I’ve seen so far, John doesn’t disappoint. I also feel that he’s the man we interview in the present… but I’m not quite sure.
I’ll definitely play his route… just not this time. I already said yes to Lawrence 😪.
Also, I feel that the romantic path gives some kind of special touch to being with him… what do you think?
