It's me, the person who has an enemies to lovers relationship with a foreign language
trilingual need to write a book in polish, essey on medieval politics in english and then have a full mental breakdown because of describing your day in german
grammar and pronunciation doesn't mean shit in music!!!! create your own little language sweetie!!!! slay!!!
Literally I'm moving closer to my old high school and I'm so tempted to go over and see if any of my old teachers still work there (esp the homophobic teacher from France or the transphobic history/sociology/psychology teacher) and drop a "toutes les routes" in a convo to deal some psychic damage to them
You’re bilingual?
bilingual is a pretty strong word for someone who can barely speak english properly but yes
Du coup vraie question: est-ce que vous aussi quand vous racontez votre journée ou vos problèmes à votre chat mais que vous avez un moment de révélation en vous disant "mais est-ce qu'il comprend ce que je suis en train de dire au moins... ?" vous switchez de langue en vous disant "si ça se trouve il parle que anglais !", ou vous êtes normaux vous ?
Nohsi and Impyerno... they have accents... Filipino accents
Imp's is more noticeable, he also slips into full statements at times too (but that's typically when he curses).
Nohsi's accent is mild, but it certainly peeks out when pronouncing certain words.
The two used to speak in straight Tagalog among themselves, in their days as saplings. It's one of the biggest factors of them developing a brotherly bond in the first place- They used to only be understood by each other.
Fellow bilinguals and trilinguals who speak english, do you also sometimes look at a basic English word you know and forget its meaning, and have to sit there for a few minutes trying to figure out what the heck a three-letter word like “was” or “win” means? Do you also face that problem?
Just a few minutes ago i had to stop typing a post and stare at the word “why” for a bit, bc my brain decided it suddenly didn’t recognise that word, and I had to repeat it to myself a few times before I finally comprehended what those three letters staring back at me meant.
I'm not usually a petty person, but our next door neighbour who we were good friends with sent a really passive aggressive complaint about the noise of our rather quiet chickens so I think this is the perfect time to badly relearn how to sing higher by practising the same song over again
I own one of the dash & spin books (vol1.) Did u need anything from it?
oh i own both vol. 1 and vol. 2! I just need a way to either scan the raws myself (right now i dont have a glass panel to press the books down with so i cant take decent images) or obtain clean raws of the japanese version
i wanna translate them, write over the japanese text with english, and post it online so other people can enjoy it too
the current Dash & Spin isn't fully translated or availible in English, so i wanna fix that. And what better way than to do it yourself
Quand mon ex m'a sorti que mon niveau d'espagnol avait baissé
It's being so fun for me, a self-taught english speaker, to study English I in college because I'm learning technical stuff about things that already know how to do, it is like reading the recipe for a cake that I learned how to bake just by seeing it in a store, without the access to the actual recipe.
This opened my eyes, I finally figured out how the hell I learned English in like 2 years without studying properly: I just did.
No, I mean, when I was studying about how we acquire our native language, I was met with a concept that explained that we learn just by hearing, having contact with other speakers, but I never met an English speaker until I was 16 (and he wasn't a native speaker himself), so... How? How do I figure things out? How am I so intuitive? How can I point out that something isn't grammatically correct even if I don't know all of the gramatical rules? How the hell can just acquire some basic vocabulary and sort out sentence structures? How can I see a scrambled sentence written in Spanish (my new target language) on Duolingo and figure out what goes where, pinpoint EXACTLY what is wrong, even if I can say what is it?
The only conclusion I could come down to: I have a superpower. Yay! 🦸🏾♀️
got thru my japanese oral exam without stuttering or leaving horrendous amounts of silence
Multilinguals, in what language do you read numbers in your brain??
An interesting revelation about languages is how the same onomatopoeia is perceived differently in different languages. In English, cats ‘meow’ but in Japanese they ‘nyan’. In English, dogs ‘woof’ but in Hindi, they ‘bhow’. In English, goats ‘baa’ but in Hindi they ‘meh’.
